The coyotes have been fairly thick on this side of the Sierras too and I see them on the driveway and through the pines quite often. We always yell loudly and chase them away but they are wicked sneaky critters always looking out for unwary dogs or cats. Thank goodness for your high deck and for Mazey's sharp instinct that these are bad 'dogs'. The little trip to the vet is a good idea!! We had wolves show up in our yard one winter night and never saw one of our dogs again. And as for Mazey, I can relate. For the first time in my life I came face to face with a coyote in our back yard this summer - a very healthy looking one. Not sure who was more startled, it or me.Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05578906262073646500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6533815743133780631.post-54872632153510858632014-11-21T11:40:25.858-08:002014-11-21T11:40:25.858-08:00Brilliant, Lynn! Oh those darned coyotes...as a child we would come face to face with them in our pasture. They could hold a stare down so well. We were afraid they would go after the horses. Good that Mazey will get a little nip-tuck ;>)
Cheers!Candacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15520872958009985226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6533815743133780631.post-23082742094462942492014-11-21T11:18:37.761-08:002014-11-21T11:18:37.761-08:00Oh dear...our little girl is growing up...& I ...Oh dear...our little girl is growing up...& I do remember the coyote we saw just around the corner from the cabin, much better looking that the little scrubs we see here. They probably eat well around the neighborhood.
I love what you're doing with the Grammy Squares border! It just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to see what you're going to do with all those ornaments! Now, here's what Wikipedia has to say about Nosegays..."A nosegay, tussie-mussie, or posy is a small flower bouquet, typically given as a gift. They have existed in some form since at least medieval times, when they were carried or worn around the head or bodice. Doilies are traditionally used to bind the stems in these arrangements." They lure dogs into the woods and then attack. My friend's dog ran away but one of them bit off the end of her tail. They are very dangerous. So glad Mazey is okay! Love the quilt! Since we live in N...Just a note regarding coyotes. Since we live in NM, they are everywhere. And, of course our golden Toby always wants to be everyone's best bud. One day while hiking, a couple of coyotes came up to Toby and he thought they wanted to play. Hubby called him back but saw in the distance, the whole coyote family watching. Hubby feels that the coyote family wanted to make Toby "dinner." A pack of coyotes can easily overtake a dog-even a golden so beware of coyotes getting too friendly. Out senior citizen golden Chewie, who is now gone, was hiking with us. When we turned around, there were a few coyotes very close to him following us up the trail. Hubby threw rocks to scare them off but they just followed us at a discreet distance. Chewie was too old to fight off a coyote pack. Am sure that again they thought of Chewie as a meal. Just remember, a family of coyotes can and do bring down deer and young calves. Glad to hear Mazey was afraid of the coyote!NMSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12819893176474050663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6533815743133780631.post-90078884811247596802014-11-21T07:45:36.098-08:002014-11-21T07:45:36.098-08:00i really like your corner border.i really like your corner border.Carrie P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10063988589711911820noreply@blogger.com
