Bordering On........

Hello Everyone,

 

Finally, all of the setting pinwheels and triangles are finished and stitched to Butterscotch Baskets.    

 

I hung the quilt up on the outside railing, held securely with my copy of War and Peace and Pride and Prejudice.  When I bought War and Peace at a garage sale years ago, I was sure that I would curl up with it on a snowy winter day......NOT.  All I do is dust it off occasionally.  Now Pride and Prejudice is another story, literally, and one of my all time favorites. I'd like to cuddle under this quilt with Mr. Darcy! (Did I really say that?)  I mean I would like to cuddle up under this quilt while I read about Mr. Darcy.

This quilt and I had a minor skirmish.....to flange or not to flange.  I decided to remove the flanges from the setting triangles because, no matter which way I pressed them, I was losing the points on the star blocks or the points on the pinwheels. I didn't want this quilt to be pointless!

I've sketched out my borders now that I have an absolute measurement.  At this point, the quilt is 67-1/2" x 74-1/2".  It's a nice size that is going to get bigger!  I'll find out today or tomorrow if my border idea is going to look good. So today, I'll be bordering on...............

Getting it Right the First Time

Hello Everyone,

 

Have you been waiting for me to wake up?  It has been so cold here, which makes it much easier to stay in bed all toasty and warm under a quilt and electric blanket.  I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee for the morning and Zinnie is curled up at my feet.  It was definitely a three-dog night last night here in the frozen woods.

 

Yesterday I finished all of the blocks for Butterscotch Baskets. Say Butterscotch Baskets Blocks three times fast. Go ahead, I'll wait........  By the second time, I'm saying Butterscotch Blastic Bocks.  Anyway, they are finished and stitched together AND the instructions are written for this block.  Now I can pass them on to my pattern tester Isabelle, and my sister Gail.

 

By late afternoon, and after the Stanford bowl game finished, we took Zinnie for a walk down to Snowflake Lake.  Now say Snowflake Lake three times fast!

The lake is always drained in the winter.  I guess the Homeowners Association doesn't want me ice skating on it.  Not that I can ice skate.  I only put shoes, snowshoes or hiking boots on my feet.  Nothing with wheels, skinny blades or spiky heels touch these toes.

How about a round of golf?  I will put golf spikes on my feet.....not that it helps my game!

I have another long to-do list.  Yesterday during the bowl games, I ended up ripping out all of the setting triangles on Butterscotch Baskets, flanges and all.  In my rush to get it together for the Preview Party, I cut the setting triangles the incorrect size.  I could have made them work, but they would not have been up to my standards.  So out they came and it gave me a good excuse to sit and watch the bowl games.  So back to the drawing board today to get it RIGHT the second time!

I hope you get it RIGHT the first time today whatever you choose to do.

Good Morning to a New Year

 

 

Happy New Year's Day to Everyone! 

 

Let's all start out the year with a severe case of the Quilt Pox! It's true, it is very contagious to adults and children.  The only cure I know is more fabric and more quilting!

 

My friend, Glenda brought this sign back to me from a trip around the United States.  She knows me so well!

To start the year off on the right foot, or left foot since I'm left-handed, hop on over to  Squash House Quilts and check out the adorable Nostalgic Christmas/Valentine pillow Candace made using Kissing Booth fabric by Basic Grey. I love it.  LOVE IT!  Just think, if you make a pillow, you can rest your head on it while recovering from the QUILT POX.
