A Quandry Solved

 

Hello Everyone,

 

When I put a few hours together, I escape to my sewing room and work on my Country Corners quilt.  This is what was on my design wall today.

 



 

This is what was on my design wall yesterday.  Can you find the three blocks that I removed?

I removed three blocks.....

....and replaced them with these blocks that I like more.

 



The change is very subtle, and now that I've done it, I feel much better about the overall look.  Here is a close up of the new blocks.

 

 

This quilt is going to be very, very scrappy.....just my style.  Now I'm making additional blocks from my Patchwork Math book to turn it into a true sampler quilt.  At this point in time, I think it is going to be seven blocks across and seven down.  I'll decide on the borders when I get there.  It's definitely a work in progress that will take many more iterations before I decide on the final layout.

The Courthouse Steps blocks are a definite go. I like the way they frame the blocks.  The Courthouse Steps blocks are so much fun to make and almost mindless.  Sometimes mindless is good, especially after back to back busy weeks....let's make that months.

The whole time I'm making a quilt, I'm thinking about how I'm going to quilt it.  This might just need an all over pantograph without any custom quilting.  Who knows, I may change my mind and custom quilt each block!

Today, and the rest of the week, I'm getting ready for my guild talk and trunk show at Amador Valley Quilters Guild in Pleasanton. The talk is all put together......now it is time to practice, practice, practice.  I have a full house for my Patchwork Math workshop on Sunday which is sponsored by the guild.  I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the lecture and workshop.  I promise you this is going to be fun!

On Saturday, November 15th, I'm teaching another Patchwork Math Workshop in Manteca at Ladybug's Quilts.  There are some openings available for this class.  It is my most popular class and I guarantee you will learn a lot.  I try to take the mystery out of quilting math, which is NOT a 4-letter word!

Time to start my day of preparations.  Make your day a good one.  It's all up to you!

What a Difference Two Days Make

Hello Everyone,

 

What fun to wake up to a light dusting of snow this morning.  Mr. Joe and I went for an early morning walk with Miss Mazey around the lake.

 

There really is a golf course underneath the white stuff.

This is the first time Mazey has seen snow.  She ran and rolled in it with reckless abandon.  The leaves add a whole new meaning to the name Golden Retriever.

If you look closely you can see Mazey in the leaves.

 

Mazey will be 7 months old in 3 days.

Here's our retreat area.  The lodge with many happy memories.

It is going to be a great day in the mountains.  Life is good.
