Sew'n Wild Oaks Class is in Session

Hello Everyone,

 

Enrollment in my Sew'n Wild Oaks class is a little crazy this month, so I'm offering three sessions instead of two.  The good thing is I get to see more of the girls, and the other good thing is they get more accomplished on their projects. 

 

This is a beautiful block from Country Corners.  Laurie played around with her color combinations, and this is going to be the finished block.

 

 

Kathy has all of her blocks completed for her Country Corners, and we helped her select fabric for setting squares and setting triangles from her stash.  Kathy made every block from fabric right out of her stash.

 



 

Two of the girls were working on Lucy Boston blocks.

They are extremely addicting! 

Judy has a box bull of blocks for her Country Charmer quilt.  You'll be seeing this one coming together soon.

Wendy is making a little basket from a Dresden template.  This is going to be so cute and she will be adding a touch of pink.  She already made a quilt, now for a matching pillow.

I have the tutorial HERE for the little flower.  Two little flowers nested together look so sweet.

Mary Anne and Eileen had strips all over their tables while they worked on their quilts.  Beautiful colors and precision from both of the girls.

 Laurie is very accurately adding the flange to the center of her Emilie Elizabeth quilt.

Once the flange was securely sewn on, it was time to start working on the applique ribbons and basket.  She got a lot done during the class.

I'll have another class next Tuesday, so we will all get to see more beautiful creations.  Have a wonderful, creative week!

Patchwork Math Class is in Session

Hello Everyone,

 

The classroom at In Between Stitches was filled with bundles of gorgeous fabrics just waiting to be transformed into beautiful blocks made from quilting components from my Patchwork Math book.

 

The girls learned the formulas and precision piecing techniques for six different components which can be used in blocks, sashings or borders.

After lunch, the design walls came alive!

This offset arrangement is so creative.

The blocks started small and then they grew into table toppers or just additional blocks.

This is one of my favorite classes to teach because I never know what the end product is going to be.  They are all so unique and wonderful.  It was a great class filled to the brim with so many nice quilters.  I think I have the best job in the world when I get to spend my day in the classroom, in a quilt shop, surrounded by wonderful quilters, and good, kind-hearted people!!

My apologies to Dolores.....I forgot to take pictures of your two beautiful blocks.  I'm so sorry.  To make matters worse, I also forgot to take a picture of the cake Dolores brought in for our afternoon pick-me-up that her granddaughter made.  Boy, I really dropped the ball big time.  I'll make it up to you somehow.

I'm off to the shop this morning for my Monday workday. I saw some boxes just waiting to be unpacked when I was there Saturday. I can't wait to see what was inside.  It is just like Christmas when the UPS deliveries come to the back door.  I hope your day is full of good surprises.

....and then there were three

Hello Everyone,

 

This is my nighttime job, working on Lucy Boston's blocks.  Slowly but surely three blocks are finished.  Sunday seems to be an appropriate day to post the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks.

 

 

It is so much fun selecting the fabrics for the blocks.

 

Each one is like a miniature quilt full of interest by combining many colors, different patterns, and fussy cutting.

I look forward to working on these blocks every evening.  I keep a plastic "Lucy" tote right next to the couch which contains all of my envelopes with cut, elongated hexagons waiting to be stitched together.
 

I can't decide which block to work on next.  Now that's a good problem to have.
