Elizabeth's Dowry Has Arrived

Hello Everyone,

This picture of beautiful fabrics is brought to you by Karen Styles and her wonderful new line of fabric called Elizabeth's Dowry from Marcus Fabrics.  Gail and I had the pleasure of meeting Karen at Quilt Market last year.  She is delightful!

This is the panel that comes in the fabric line.

I dug right into the box of fabric when it arrived.  I sorted, caressed, and fondled every piece.  Then I went to my EQ7 software and started creating.  You can see that I incorporated the plaid first!

Each block is like a little mini quilt.

As I get farther along, I will show you the whole design.  I appliqued my first block to the background on the way home from the cabin yesterday.  I can work on anything in the car on the straight section of the trip.  Forget about doing anything on the curvy roads.....and there are lots of curves along the way.  It would be unsightly to upchuck into my applique basket!

Speaking of the cabin......Mr. Joe and I were out on the deck Tuesday for our afternoon appetizers and a glass of wine.  (It was 5 o'clock somewhere....wink).  I went inside to get something from the kitchen, and looked out the window and saw a bear walking in the driveway next door.  I grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of pictures.

This would have been clearer if the person holding the camera wasn't shaking!  Actually I wasn't afraid since I was a good 12 to 15 feet off the ground.  We both felt very lucky to have this opportunity to see a bear wander by. It is more fun to look at a bear than stare at each other.  Now if I had been out walking with Mazey, it would have been a entirely different story!  Night or day, the bears are wandering the neighborhood.  We always see more wildlife after a big holiday when the tourists go home and aren't careful disposing their garbage.

When we got home, we were welcomed with two large boxes from a printing order I placed before we left for Labor Day. We started in stuffing hundreds of patterns that need to be shipped to the East Coast today.  Butterscotch Baskets is taking on a whole new life and is selling like hot cakes.  It took us 2-1/2 hours to stuff the first group of patterns.  Mr. Joe wants to be paid overtime for his expertise  What a dreamer!

I took one of those silly little quizzes that pop up on Facebook.  It was called, What's your life motto?  This is what popped up for me.

Be a dreamer today and live that dream every day of your life.

Soon,
Lynn

  1. So envious, that fabric is wonderful! I love the resulting blocks. How precious wildlife is, and dangerous. Im kinda a deer whisperer, and forget that fact till theyre two feet from me and my hubs is yelling at me to get back in the car so I don't get stomped. We had a bear in our neck of the woods the past couple seasons. First time in a hundred years. They killed him this past spring. I don't understand why he can be just on the other side of the state line but not here.

  6. Oh my goodness! What a wonderful new fabric line! I love what you've done so far. Looks like we might all be wearing bear bells at the retreat! Way to go Mr. Joe - I'm sure you'll be amply rewarded for your efforts (and keep me from having to stuff patterns at the retreat!)!
    Cheers!
