Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat for 2016

Hello Everyone,

In case you've been wondering what I've been up to......I'm going to tell you.  My first of two retreats this Fall begin on Monday at Snowflake Lodge in Arnold.

The quilters will arrive this Monday, the 26th, and quilt through Thursday the 27th.  I have a full schedule of mini-workshops planned for their quilting enjoyment.  Those mini-workshops translate into many handouts that I've been working on throughout the week.

We brought a trailer FULL of things for the workshops.  From extra ironing boards, tables, cutting mats, items for my little "store", patterns, and my projects.  I tell you, Mr. Joe feels like a pack horse with all the loading and unloading.  I'm right there by his side hauling and lifting too.  My back is starting to grumble at me.

During the retreat we will be making quilt labels.  Every quilt needs to have a label and I'm guilty of not always finishing my quilt with a label.

The girls may choose to work on the Handmade Holidays table runner.  The kits and patterns are ready to go.

Another mini-workshop will show the girls how to make these cute little yo-yo Christmas trees to put on the table runner.

Some of the girls wanted me to offer a Lucy Boston refresher course too.

During our time together, I will be offering Patchwork Math hints and tips.  By the end of the retreat they will see that making this quilt isn't nearly as complicated as they think.

So you can see we have a full agenda.....BUT wait there's more!  The girls can do anything they want to do.  It is THEIR retreat.  Some may decide to listen to one lecture and pass up everything else and work on their own projects, or go for a walk around the lake.  (Bear bells are a mandatory fashion statement!)

This is a time to gather together and share the experience of a retreat in the mountains with friends, good food, fresh air......and who knows, we may get a bit of quilting done!

Soon,
Lynn

  2. Well, can I be a mouse in your pocket? Would love to attend one of your retreats, but think I am a tad too far away. Get some rest before heading out. Nanette

  3. What a twist ( no pun intended ) to the sashing. Will this be available as a pattern to purchase ? Enjoy your retreat! Thank you.

  6. I'm looking forward to the coming posts about this week...it might help me get my brain settled on what I need/want to bring with me next month! I just know that I'm packing Lucy Boston supplies and a quilt that needs its binding...and a label, come to think of it! Other than that, finishing projects for my birthday girls has been center stage!

  7. Labels sounds like a great idea. I usually forget to do them I must admit.
