The Queen's Visit Continued

Hello Everyone,

It was another wonderful day spent with Quilt Sue in the little community of Murphys.  No trip to Murphys is complete without a stop at The Spice Tin.  Sue purchased some little packets of spices to take home in her suitcase.  By the time she arrives home, her unmentionables will have the wonderful aroma of Bourbon Smoked Sugar!

The rain held off for our outdoor picnic at Indian Rock Winery.  While we were there we just happened to find a crown fit for a queen. Sue had her first American hot dog too.

To continue our All-American theme, we fixed Smokehouse Burgers, and corn on the cob for dinner.

Smokehouse Burgers

1 tablespoon seasoned pepper
4 slices Texas toast
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 ounces Portobello mushrooms sliced
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 tablespoon minced garlic
4 (8-ounce) ground sirloin patties
4 slices cheese
1 medium tomato
1/4 cup barbecue sauce

Heat the olive oil in a skillet and add the sliced mushrooms.  Sauté for 1 minute, then add the green onions and garlic.  Sauté again until thoroughly cooked.

Toast the slices of Texas toast in the oven according to directions.

Sprinkle the patties with the seasoned pepper and grill or broil.

Assemble the burger at the table in this order; Texas toast, barbecue sauce, hamburger pattie, cheese, mushrooms, and topped off with a slice of tomato.  You are supposed to add another slice of Texas toast.....but since we are watching our girlish figures, we ditched the additional slice of bread.

Today is football day here in America, so we will be watching two games and try to explain it to Sue.  Wish us luck with that!  She may opt out and work on the puzzle, enjoy the fire, or quilt, and listen to our wonderful rain storm.

Toodle pip,
Lynn
