The Christmas Ribbons Flimsy

Hello Everyone,

Many long days went into the making of my Christmas Ribbons design.  I'm very happy with the final outcome.

Mazey is pleased too.  We took the design wall out on the deck to get a picture in the early evening light.  After I quilt this, we will drive up to the high country and take a picture of the quilt in the snow for the pattern cover.  Ebbetts Pass is a 1-1/2 lane road running northeast up and over the Sierras. The pass should be open in the next couple of weeks.  There will be lots of snow around the 9,000' level.  Mazey will have a ball playing in the snow in May.

No matter which way you place the borders, the stripes will never match up.  I had only one yard of each of the fabrics, and I made the most of each yard.  I literally only had scraps left from some of them.  My stack of fabric was running on fumes by the time I finished.  Note the flange.....I can't make a quilt without a flange.  I think that little flange really adds a nice, powerful pop to the border.  Yes, it takes a lot more time and effort, but it is worth every minute.

I'm going to take a quilting break today and attend to a messy quilting room.....before I start in on the next project for Henry Glass & Co.  The next project is going to be entirely different.

I would say have a great weekend, but every day feels like the weekend.  So I'll say, make the most of the days ahead.

Soon,
Lynn

  4. This is such a beautiful, festive quilt only made even more fun by sweet Maizie! You're really wearing your Madam Ambassador hat wonderfully! Henry Glass Fabrics won the lottery with your design work!

  5. It's a beautiful quilt Lynn! It's fun to see you make something outside of your regular fabric choices: it proves that your design prowess is truly a talent that knows no bounds! Have a wonderful weekend: your trip up Ebbetts Pass sounds like a good trip. We all need to get out and see some new sights and get some fresh air! Hugs, H

    1. Thanks Helen. I already have the fabrics pulled out to make a reproduction Christmas Ribbons.....I can visualize it now! We like to get out of the house once in a blue moon just to be able to focus on far away vistas. It is good for the soul....and the eyeballs.

  6. Oh I love this! Very detailed! I have yet to add flange to anything but I love it. Just never think of it at the right time! (Probably because at that point I'm in an excited hurry to finish!)

    1. I think it's time for a flange Cheree! I almost always include one even through I'm usually so exhausted by the time I get to that point! Stay well.

    1. It is so good to see your name pop up in the comment section Theresa! Yes, Mazey is now 6 years old. Her face is really getting white. I don't want her to ever get old. Take care.

  11. Hi Lynn, this quilt turned out beautifully. Could you share where you got the fabric for this quilt? I love the patterns

    1. Thank you for asking. The fabric is called Holly Hill Christmas by MaryJane Carey for Henry Glass. Most likely it is no longer available but there should be several current lines that will work up nicely in this pattern.
