Happy 4th of July

Hello Everyone,

It's time to show our patriotic colors today.  I pulled out every quilt that I have that is some form of red, white and blue.  I took the last stitch on this appliqued basket of flowers that I made with Star Spangled Liberty fabrics by Pam Buda for Marcus Fabrics.  I'm going to name this one Huckleberry Hill.

This gorgeous line arrived before Quilt Market, but I was too busy to start creating, so I just tucked it away in the box.  I also need to look, fondle, and admire the fabrics awhile before an idea will pop into my brain.  There are so many wonderful light backgrounds.  I love them all.

Since I'm between shows, I have all of the quilts home for a visit, so I can put them on display.  Here's Buttonwood.

I don't remember the name of this quilt, but is sure is cute!

I don't remember the name of this quilt.  It was in Quilt Sampler Magazine several years ago.  The shop is called The Quilt House in Gardnerville, NV and I know the pattern is still available.

There's a story behind this quilt and it all happened yesterday at the Alameda County Fair Livestock Auction.  We didn't attend the event.  I've been sick since Thursday and didn't want to contaminate anyone.

Five minutes before the awards ceremony,  my son Kade sent me this picture and wondered it if looked familiar. I don't know who made this quilt, but it looks almost identical to mine.  Someone hung it upside down!

Then my daughter-in-law sent me this picture, 4 minutes before the awards were to be presented.  Kade and Harleigh jumped up on stage and rehung the quilt in the proper orientation.  His mom must be a quilter...wink.

There, all fixed.  The texts were going back and forth like crazy.  My son and granddaughter did me proud!  Now the backdrop for all of the award pictures won't be wonky.

I'm going to take it easy today.  I feel like a firecracker exploded in my throat.  Yesterday I made a block, took a nap, repeat, made a block, took a nap.  Today will most likely be the same schedule.

Maybe I'll post pictures of Kevin Bacon's auction tomorrow.  Our granddaughter and DIL are devastated.  They said their goodbyes around 5pm, then the processing truck arrived under the cover of darkness.  Insert very sad face here.

Soon,
Lynn

  1. What a cute batch of posies you have in your basket! I wish you felt better! Thank you to Kade and Harleigh for making things right with the "Housewarming" quilt! It would've made me absolutely apoplexic to have seen it hanging upside down. My husband is still loving his version of this quilt too...It's full time on our living room wall now! Housewarming was featured in The Best of Quilt Sampler issue in 2007.
Please continue to let Harleigh and family know that we are so proud of her. Raising good healthy market stock is no easy thing.

  2. Sorry to hear you are under the weather. Crawl under one of those beautiful quilts and sleep yourself to better health.

  3. I have a friend who started out with the sore throat (in fact 2 friends). You might want to get a Z-pack to prevent getting any sicker. This stuff is hard to get rid of and relapses happen.
Take care and love the Pig and Quilt pictures

  5. I can just imagine how cheery your house was for the 4th, Lynn. I'm sorry you've been sick, though! Harleigh and Kade are to be commended for jumping in and setting the quilt upright! I'm so sorry about Kevin Bacon, please send our regards to Haleigh!
Take care and feel better soon!
