My Bobbin is Full

 Hello Everyone,

Yesterday’s afternoon walk carried that unmistakable whisper of fall—crisp air, golden light, and the promise of changing leaves. Inspired by that seasonal shift, this week’s Pattern of the Week is Leaf Peepers. Honestly, if the leaves in my yard looked anything like the blocks in this pile, I’d be out there raking with a smile. Thankfully, Mazey takes her raking duties very seriously—she’s always ready to lend a paw.

Here's the finished quilt from the photoshoot taken at Ironstone Winery.  The fire last week burned right up to the fences of this spectacular Gold Country Winery.

Every quilt has her picture taken on this old sled by the woodburning stove.

I had a lot of batiks leftover from another project, so I decided to put them to work in a new Leaf Peepers.

I pulled out the brown setting squares and laid all the leaf blocks side by side, shading them from light to dark—like watching the sky drift down to the forest floor. It’s got that quiet, earthy rhythm I love. This one’s nestled in my “need to finish” pile… and it’s whispering louder every day.....especially during this time of the year I think it's shouting at me!

The pattern can be found on sale in my Etsy shop HERE.

On a personal note, one year ago today, my life took a sharp turn. I was rushed from the ER in Walnut Creek to Kaiser’s Neurological Hospital in Redwood City after a stroke—caused by a brain bleed from too many blood thinners. That week was long, uncertain, and stitched with worry. But somehow, I came through it. Aside from a few balance hiccups (which might just be age doing its own patchwork number on me), I’ve made a full recovery.

This past year has reminded me that life—like quilting—can unravel in an instant. One moment you’re piecing together something beautiful, and the next, the thread breaks, or your bobbin runs out. But it also taught me that every day is a square worth saving. That love—like a well-worn quilt—should be wrapped around your family and friends with intention, warmth, and love.

So today, I’m treasuring the scraps and the masterpieces alike. And loving my family and friends with every stitch I have left in me....and my bobbin is full!

Soon,

Lynn

Pattern of the Week: Cute as a Button

 Hello Everyone,

I've been missing in action for the last week.  I was so busy at my Sew'n Wild Oaks retreat that I didn't have time to post.  So, I'm back now and will post retreat pictures throughout this week.  I wanted to let you know my pattern of the week is Cute as a Button.

I made this during February of 2019 when the snowflakes were falling and piling up like crazy.  When it's cold and stormy, I move my sewing machine out to the dining room and pretend I'm in a snow globe.

The blocks are so addicting, I couldn't stop making them.....nor could I go anywhere except to wield the snow shovel in the driveway and make a path to the nearest tree for Mazey's powder room.

Here are some of the fabrics I used in my kits.  They are just so darn cute and colorful!

I put my strips on this Strip 'n Sew that Mr. Joe made for me.  A pasta dryer also works like a charm.

I made sooooo many blocks, that I ended up making a queen-sized quilt for the master bedroom.

Here's a picture of the 'girls' together.

I promise to post pictures of the retreat throughout the week.  We had absolutely the BEST time together!

The direct link is located HERE to the pattern and my Etsy shop.

Bridle Path Pattern of the Week

 Hello Everyone,

My pattern of the week is Bridle Path and is on sale in my Etsy shop HERE.

This quilt hangs proudly in our cabin bedroom; a space I lovingly call the Hearthstone Room. Every quilt you see here was made with fabric from my Hearthstone line from Marcus Fabrics—a collection that holds a special place in my heart as it was my first fabric line.  Laurel Ridge, the 2025 BOM for The Quilt Show is hanging on the wall on the left.  Double Dutch Treat is next to it. Emilie Elizabeth gifted to me by my dear friend Deborah is over the headboard. Spring Frolic is on the bench at the end of the bed.

I change the quilts out with the seasons, and this grouping will be in the bedroom throughout the summer months.

The following are snapshots of the blocks in the quilt. Each of the blocks finish at 10" x 10".  The entire quilt measure 98" x 98".  If you want to make the quilt larger, all you need to do is cut the borders wider.

This block is the most complex, but the pattern includes a block layout sheet which is the map to your success.

Heading out to the Bear Valley Music Festival this afternoon—Broadway tunes and showstoppers await! Mr. Joe’s not much for musicals, so he’ll be holding down the fort with Mazey while I’m away. All the girls are coming back to the cabin for dinner tonight, which means my morning’s packed with prep work before I head out. Mr. Joe’s got his own timetable: top priority is firing up the barbecue and getting the roast on the rotisserie. Fingers crossed I’ll have everything else squared away before I leave!

Is it wrong to say I invite company just so I’m forced to clean the cabin? Let’s call it strategic hospitality.

Lynn

COUNTRY COURTHOUSE - Pattern of the Week

 Hello Everyone,

If it's Sunday, it must be the unveiling of my Pattern of the Week!  This week the featured pattern is Country Courthouse

This is the perfect stash-busting quilt if you have a lot of scraps in your stash.

I cut hundreds, no thousands of 1" strips for this quilt.

Years ago, Mr. Joe was making and selling these handy dandy Strip'n Sews. I had been using a pasta dryer to display all of my 1" fabric strips.  He decided he could make something much more substantial, and he gave it 'stadium seating' so I could easily see all of my strips.  He wanted to name it Strip Seach which I immediately had to veto as president of the company!

Having an assortment of fabric strips at my fingertips, makes quick work of making all of the little 9 patches and Courthouse Steps blocks.

This quilt started out as the smaller Cute as a Button pattern.  A few years ago, we had so much snow that it made for rough travel whenever we left the cabin.  So, I just stayed inside and kept making block after block and ended up making a queen-sized Country Courthouse.

I love this alternative colorway too.

Whenever I finish a quilt, I put it on display on my old sled a do a photoshoot.

I machine quilted around every single 'log' in the quilt.  Tedious but so worth the effort.

If you do your own machine quilting, then this one is for you.  Stitch in the ditch and stipple is in the entire body of the quilt.  I also added a feathered border.

The pattern is available and on sale in my Etsy shop HERE and it is offered at 15% off the regular price.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Pattern of the Week - Christmas Ribbons

 Hello Everyone,

Since it's Sunday, it must be time to post my pattern of the week offered in my Etsy shop for a 10% discount!  This week I'm featuring Christmas Ribbons.

This was the first time I did curved crosshatching on my longarm.

The flange in the border can be optional.  I think it sets the border off so nicely.

The quilt finishes at 62" x 62", and the blocks are 10" finished.

It also looks great in non-Christmas fabrics too.

You could just call it Ribbons!

Click HERE for the link to the pattern in my Etsy shop.

I have a very busy week ahead and I'll tell you all about it when I can.

Soon,
Lynn
