Christmas Has Arrived!

Hello Everyone,

 

When the FedEx truck arrived at my home yesterday, the driver made me about the happiest person in the world!  He delivered a box to my front porch from Marcus Fabrics in New York City.  Me, ME getting this wonderful assortment of Judie's Album Quilt fabrics.



 

I wanted to roll around in it just like a puppy in four-leaf clover....four paws in the air and tail wagging!

After I finished drooling, fondling, folding and admiring, I got out the camera to take a picture of this fabric line that is so very much my style.

This fabric line will be available in quilt shops the beginning of November.  Let me tell you, it will be worth the wait.

 

 

My plan is to re-make Emilie Elizabeth in the new fabrics.  I think it is going to be gorgeous.  I'm going to make it scrappier than the first version and try to incorporate most of the new fabrics.  I've blocked weeks off of my calendar to devote to this quilt.  My goal is to have it completed by Pacific International Quilt Festival the middle of October.  Then I'll pack it up, and send it to Houston to be on display in the Marcus booth at Quilt Market.  Could I be anymore excited?   I don't think so.  I have to remember to breathe slowly, and just concentrate on the task ahead one block at a time, and one section at a time.  My sister Gail offered to help me.  We will be creating together until this quilt is finished.   I think I will task her with the basket blocks, the square in a square blocks, the double flying geese, and the corner blocks.  Don't you think that sounds fair?  If Gail learned how to applique, she would be making that too!

 



On another note, I'll be tearing myself away from this new fabric long enough to teach Patchwork Math tomorrow at Prairie Queens in San Jose.  I think I have a couple more spots available if anyone is interested.  This is my most popular class, and everyone learns a lot and has fun at the same time while becoming a quilting "mathalete" by the end of class.

I have to scoot and look at my fabric again.  All I want to do is see what beautiful blocks and I can create with my new stash!  I guess I should also make sure that everything is all ready for class tomorrow first.....then I can play....and play.....and play.......

Fall Preview Party

Hello Everyone,

 

It was almost a full house at the Preview Party held by In Between Stitches at the Purple Orchid Inn and Spa Tuesday night.

 



 

The quilts were on display for the upcoming classes.

 



There is something for everyone, every skill level, and just about every style of quilt.

In Between Stitches also offers classes in embroidering, both by hand or machine.  There are sewing classes, fabric painting classes, you name it, teachers at the shop offer it.  Click HERE to link to the new class schedule.

It has been a busy week at Sew'n Wild Oaks between working at the shop, teaching, and the Preview Party.  I spent a few hours in my quilting room yesterday and I hope to escape to my little nest of happiness and creativity again today while Mazey takes one of her puppy naps.

Sew'n Wild Oaks Class is in Session

 Hello Everyone,

The classroom walls at In Between Stitches were decorated with County Corners blocks yesterday in all shapes, sizes and colors.  They were beautiful!

You can tell my girls have been busy in their sewing rooms.

My girls test out the directions that I am going to post for you next month.  I should hand out a prize for every boo-boo they find.  I'm thankful that eagle-eye Judy is in the class!

Here is another block from Winterset that Gail is making.  She starts out the day with the pieces on the block layout sheet.

Then voila, a beautiful, completed block.

Irene is making a pattern by Joe Wood.  She used her Patchwork Math book and calculated the size she needed to cut in order to make the flying geese four at a time.

Gorgeous!

Isabelle's little scarecrow is almost finished.

He looks so realistic right down to his boots.

Kathy is an amazing creator of gorgeous projects.  The detail in this is incredible.

Cindy's pumpkin is so pretty.  I love the fabrics she's using.  There is so much depth and detail in this block.

Karen is working on the centerpiece for Madrigal.  I love the check and the color combinations.

Yesterday was a full day of quilting for many of us.  We went directly from class, to dinner, to the Preview Party to see the upcoming classes being offered at In Between Stitches next semester.  I'll post pictures of the event tomorrow.

I left the house around 9am and arrived home at 9pm.  Mazey took good care of Mr. Joe all day.  She follows him around like a little puppy.  She is so helpful too.....NOT!
