Folsom Quilt Show

 

Hello Everyone,

 

I'm all set up and ready to go at the quilt show in Folsom.  We made an uneventful trek out of the mountains and down to the valley through snow and ice. 

 



We had to be set up by 5pm and ready for the guild member preview from 6:30 to 8pm.  It can be a hectic time as the guild members sweep through and buy, buy, buy!

 

 The Cute as a Button kits were a popular item. 

 

 My sister Gail, and my friend Kristi made this booth come alive.  It takes a village to haul, and set everything up.  My Patchwork Math demonstration area is set up on the right.  I have a large space to fill!

We will get over to the show early this morning and take pictures of the quilts.  We didn't have a minute to spare yesterday.

Another major storm is rolling in over the weekend, so I'm planning on staying in the valley for an extra night before I try to get back up to the mountains.  Hopefully Monday will be a good travel day and Mr. Joe will have the driveway cleared.  I'm sure he is going to miss my shoveling expertise!

Winter Wonderland

Hello Everyone,

 

Welcome to my world of shoveling.  We have to try and get out today to drive to Folsom and set up for the 3-day show.  My car is all packed and tucked safely in to garage.

 

It is 16 degrees this morning and the roads are frozen.  Here's the back of our garage.  It is a trek to get up the hill to the garage from the house.

The snow blower decided to break down and we are reduced to using snow shovels.  My girlfriend said it was good exercise to shovel. To that I say harrumph!

We had only a one-lane road for a few days.  It didn't really matter since we really couldn't or didn't need to go anyplace.

This has been my office for the past few days.....my dining room table.  I've been printing patterns, pricing and stuffing.

I've been enjoying the view, and tend to sit and stare throughout the day.

 



 

Gail and I are going to attempt driving out of the neighborhood today to get to the quilt show in Folsom, about a two-hour drive away.  We will be fine once we get to the main highway.  It's getting to the main highway that is the issue.

Sew Everyday

Hello Everyone,

 

My feeble attempt at trying to sew everyday works best if I prepare something to work on every evening.  I really want to make a queen size quilt using the blocks from my Cute as a Button pattern.  It is going to take hundreds of little blocks.

 

I'm trying to prepare a bunch of 9-patches every night so I can spend one hour in the morning putting them together.

The pile on my sewing machine turns into this in no time at all.  Slowly but surely, I will get them made. 

I'm still getting ready for the Folsom Quilt Show.   I made my to-do list of everything that needs to be completed over the next few days.  My list is divided into two sections.  I'm working on everything that involves electricity first.  We are supposed to get a ton of snow over the next couple of days, and that means the power will most likely go off.  We have a generator, but we don't run it until we really need it.

My other list includes stuffing patterns, folding fabric, pricing, and tagging bundles, and hand stitching a hanging sleeve on a quilt.  That task I'm saving for the Super Bowl......if we have power to watch the Super Bowl!  Yesterday our cable, Internet and TV all went out for a bit.  

Yesterday, I added an additional vine of quilting around the new table topper.  I had already put the binding on, and thought it needed more....just more of something.  I'm much happier now with a feathered vine.

 

If you don't hear from me over the next few days you'll know that we are snowed in with no contact with the outside world......and there's nothing wrong with that!
