Happy July 4th

 Hello Everyone,

The quilt looks more complex than it is.  I see a square in a square, flying geese, and half-square triangles in this block.

 

There are double flying geese in this block.  The double flying geese are fun to make with clear instructions.

The quilt only contains the components in my Patchwork Math book.

 

I love to decorate with this quilt.

 



Mazey claimed this quilt early on when she was in her puppy stage.

 



Deborah from Michigan, sent me a picture of her Zinnie's Choice with the modification at the top of the flag.  I love it!

 

We are hoping and praying there will be absolutely no fireworks here in the mountains. There are always a few idiots out there who think it's fun to shoot firearms into the air, along with some illegal fireworks.  It makes me cringe.  The fear of fire is overwhelming at this time of year.  Even though we had a banner year for rain and snow.......it is now very dry.

Let us all hope and pray that all of the leaders in our country will come together and work in a bipartisan manner to form a more perfect union.  A union that would make our founding fathers proud.

Happy July

Hello Everyone,

 

I can feel it in my bones that the summer of 2019 is going to be a busy one!  It is starting out with a 4th of July bang.

 

I met up with "my girls" at the new location for In Between Stitches in Livermore last week.  As always, the girls have been busy since our last meeting.  Karen is down to the borders on her gorgeous Romancing Alaska. This is one of the quilts that I taught on the quilting cruise to Alaska last year at this time.

 

 

There was so much creativity in the room.

 

In some case, the girls don't need patterns.  They see a quilt they like and are able to reproduce it on their own.  (Yikes, maybe they don't need me anymore!)

The detail on Pat's Snow Globe quilt is so impressive.

In my spare time, which has been limited, I've been working on my Patchwork of the Crosses, AKA Lucy Boston blocks.  This project is so portable.  I have a small tote box at the ready that I can grab on my way out of the door.

We are off to the Alameda County Fair this week to watch our three granddaughters show their goats, lamb, pig, and turkey.

The animals have been thoroughly groomed, washed, and all received hair cuts and hoof trimming.  The turkey was even washed and then blown dry!  My daughter informed me that they won't be selling the turkey since they are only allowed to sell two animals each.  I don't know for sure, but the next time you see a picture of the turkey will be on our Thanksgiving table.  My daughter, and granddaughter said they will not be eating this year.

On the home front, we've had visitors during the night.  Bear 2, hummingbird feeders 0.  The feeders now spend the night indoors.  To those with inquiring minds, this is NOT my husband dressed in a bear suit!  Now if this bear was a bit smarter, it would realize it could have taken the stairs just around the corner.

The Mailman Arrived

Hello Everyone,

 

Here is my $10 garage sale find.....complete with Rocking Chair Lodge.  Just perfect as a decoration at the cabin......complete with rust.

 

The woman that I bought it from wondered what in the world would I do with an old mailbox?  Well, display a quilt coming out of it of course!

 

I have the new (old) mailbox on display right next to two bricks.  The bricks are all that remains from our house that was destroyed in the Camp Fire in Paradise.  It is a sad reminder to so many happy years spent in our family home.  You can see that one of the bricks looks brand new, the other one is scorched.

 



I'm still getting ready for company. I'll be moving quilts around and taking more pictures.
