A Treat at the Retreat

Hello Everyone,

Every night after dinner, we had a show and tell at the retreat.  This showing was a real treat!  There was so much talent in the room.  I have enough pictures for three more blog posts.  Quilts, quilts, and more quilts!

Ann started was working on Country Charmer last year at the retreat, and here it is all finished.  A beautiful finish!

This table runner was a retreat applique project a couple of years ago.  Nancy is making good progress.

Joanne is an exceptional quilter.  She hand quilted this beauty!

Mary made another Lil' Orphan Scrappy for us to see. So pretty.

Patty's Chicken Quilt is done!

No matter how big or small the project, each and everyone gets a round of applause.  Peggy said she doesn't do little.

Jocelyn also doesn't do little......until she met me!

Sue loves Fall and Halloween, and she shared the love with us.

Patty finished my Buttonwood pattern.

No retreat is complete without a visit from Mazey.

Mazey loves her visits as much as the retreaters.

I've just kicked back the last few days and enjoyed my time with Mr. Joe and Mazey.  We attended a Livermore High School football game to watch our granddaughter cheer the team to victory.  What an All-American Girl!  Kinsey is so sweet, and kind.  We love her beyond measure.

Today Mr. Joe and I are attacking the garage.  I need to unveil my long-arm and get it humming away on Country Romance.  It is all marked and ready to be quilted.  The pattern is almost all written too.  There just aren't enough hours in the day.

More pictures tomorrow from the retreat.

Soon,
Lynn

Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I had the pleasure of spending four days with the wonderful group of incredibly talented, funny, and kind-hearted women at my Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat at Snowflake Lodge in Arnold, CA.

The staff had the room all set and ready to go.

It quickly filled with everything related to quilting.

The kits and the bundles were waiting to be fondled.

We kicked off the day with lunch outside.  This is where the new friendships started to grow.

Then ladies, start your engines and let the quilting begin!

We break around 4:30pm for appetizers and wine before dinner.

The food was delicious as always.  The staff at Snowflake Lodge went out of their way to make our stay absolutely the best!

The quilting resumed after dinner until 9pm.  That's when I turn into a pumpkin and need to get some rest.  This is my Heartfire pattern.  I love the red hexie!

Penni shared her house quilt.

Daily, she makes a house block.  Each window of the house shows something significant about her day.  Pretty amazing!  At the end of the year, she's going to have a huge quilt with the diary of her life.

More pictures tomorrow so you can see the amazing time we had together.  We laughed until we cried.  The time spent with this group of women filled my heart to overflowing.  I love them all!

Soon,
Lynn

Final Retreat Preparations

Hello Everyone,

Well it's now down to the wire.  The 35 retreaters will start arriving tomorrow to the small mountain community of Arnold.  My new Piney Woods pillow pattern is going to be a great reminder of our time spent together in the mountains.

We will all enjoy four days of non-stop quilting, laughing, chatting, and eating.  Some of the girls may decide to make a Piney Woods Pillow from one of the kits.

The kits for the retreat projects are packed and ready to be opened just like a shiny package on Christmas morning.

I may just have to keep one of these fat 1/8th bundles for myself!  I have a lot of these squirreled away.

My printer has been working non-stop making assorted boxes of note cards.  This is my shameless self promotion on my quilts designs.

We will hit the ground running at 9am Monday morning.  The sewing machines will start churning away, and the making of new friendships will begin.

UPDATES On life:

Thank you for your concerns for Mr. Joe.  He is now puttering around the cabin and he thinks he will survive.  All threats for my placing him in a full body cast have now been cancelled.

I've had to let go of the idea of stacking the fire wood.  When it comes down to it.....it just doesn't matter.

A bear cub was outside the other night calling to mama.  It sounded just like a little baby crying wait for me mom!

My sister Gail had another surgery for her breast cancer on Thursday.  This time the surgeon didn't let her off of the operating table until they made sure the margins were clear. Our cousin is with her since I couldn't be there.  Gail is doing great, and plans on arriving at the cabin tomorrow. She will be at the retreat with bear bells on!

Soon,
Lynn

P.S. I will place all of the leftover kits and bundles from my retreats and my show in my Etsy shop the beginning of November.
