Hello Everyone,
Thanks to the help of my sister, I have a whole pile of 5" Triple Churn Dash blocks for Lovey Dovey.
I would never have been this far along in the process without her help. I've been working on the applique and the checkboard border. All of the parts and pieces are made, now I just have to get it all put together once the applique is completed.
The fabric is called, "On The 12th Day" by Anni Downs for Henry Glass. Each of the centers in the Churn Dash blocks have a little fussy cut image from Anni's fabric. The line doesn't "read" Christmas to me, so the pattern isn't in keeping with a Christmas theme. I will be able to use this table topper throughout the year. It could also be a small wall hanging.
We hadn't seen our daughter and twin granddaughters since the beginning of March. Last Sunday, we met partway in the little community of Copperopolis for lunch. Not too many get the chance to have a Brahma bull stop and visit you at your outdoor table while enjoying lunch. We all got a real kick out of it.
When our daughter got back to her community of Livermore, in the San Francisco Bay Area, she texted me about the potential for rioting, and looting in her town. They were ordered by the Alameda County unified mass notification system to stay at home due to civil unrest. In my daughter's text, she asked if she could come back to the mountains because all she has to worry about is a guy taking his bull for a walk.
However, while we were gone, our neighbor took this picture right by our cabin. Had I been in the garage machine quilting with the door open, I just may have had a visitor. I do feel much safer here in the mountains, bears, bulls and all, instead of living in a city.....and that's no bull!
Soon,
Lynn
The triple turn Churn dash blocks are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna. The blocks will finish at
Delete4-1/2" x 4-1/2. They really are cute!
Hi Lynn, I love this fabric line and the pattern you've designed! When is this fabric line coming out? Psst….I sent the bear back your way....
ReplyDeleteI think the fabric is shipping now Jeanne. Thanks for the bear!
DeleteI think you need to put up an alarm system of some sort around your garage and some kind of gate that can slam shut in an instant!! how neat for the bull to come on by for a visit - I'm so glad I don't live in a city or have anyone near any of the riot places right now - what is happening in our country is so unsettling - as if the virus wasn't enough to deal with ! I love your quilt blocks and the fussy cutting centers are so neat
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Karen. The news is so depressing. I machine quilted today with the door open only about a foot.
DeleteI LOVE this pattern and I haven't even seen it finished yet. Do you think there will be kits available when you are done? Gotta have it! Hugs, Sharon McD
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to be kitting it Sharon, but some shops might. I'm glad you like it.
DeleteIf I didn’t know the designer, I would immediately think you, Lynn! It’s so pretty and soothing in a way...just what we all need right now! As for the bear....if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em....only with a clear acrylic garage door!
ReplyDeleteYes, we can all use a calming influence in our country.
DeleteYeah for Gail! Can't wait to see the entire quilt - the snippets you have shown are lovely! That is no small bear...just hoping you are not long-arming with your back to the driveway!
ReplyDeleteGail had fun making the Churn Dash blocks. She didn't leave town until they were done!
DeleteThat bull is too cute!! Big, but so cute. LOL. The bear, while adorable, is a mite scarier.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, I would take my chances with the very tame bull!
DeleteWow, another furry visitor! I'd take the bulls and bears over the city, too. I am amazed at those triple churn dash blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you with the wildlife. They make life interesting. Aren't the little blocks adorable!!!!
DeleteI thought of that bear right away when your daughter thought all she had to worry about was the bull. Your quilt is going to be awesome ... let's hear it for sisters!
ReplyDeleteSister, by blood and quilting sisters are the best!
Deletewe stopped once at a mercantile out in the country on the freeway, and a guy had a young camel that he bottle fed, and let me hold her while he went to wash out the bottle. It was so interesting to see in person! Interesting toes too, not hoofs!
ReplyDeleteNow that is very novel! Not many people can say they bottle fed a camel.
DeleteYes, Lynn and I did have fun quilting together and those blocks are adicting! I'm headed back the end of next week and will stay for a whole week so, hopefully, my sister will have another project for me to help with! Yes, quilting sisters are the best!
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you wish for!
