Clearing the Deck

Hello Everyone,

It's time for me to clear the decks and get some projects off my plate before the real fun begins!  This week, I'm working ahead on my Country Corners blocks.

The following two blocks are the same.  What a difference the fabric placement makes.

This is my favorite blocks for this go round.  My mistake turned out to be a good thing.  I was working on my calculations and had an oopsie, so I turned it into a star....and I liked it.

Here are the dates when I post the cutting directions so both of us won't get confused.  It is always the 2nd Tuesday of the month, the date that coincides with my Sew'n Wild Oaks class.

August 12th - Block #3
September 9th - Block #4
October 14th - Block #5
November 11th - Block #6
December 9th - Block #7

Every once in a while I'll stop and make a setting block so that I won't have a lot to make at the end. You will need to cut 1-1/2" strips of your leftover fabrics to make the Courthouse Steps blocks.  I'll also be posting the directions to make this block too.

I'm an avid reader in addition to quilting.  I don't usually make book recommendations, but this non-fiction book had me at the first page.  I will be the first in line at the box office when this book comes out as a movie.  The Boys in the Boat is Chariots of Fire with oars.  You know the ending at the very beginning which doesn't diminish the story in the least.  As I neared the end of the book, I slowed my reading pace because I didn't want it to end.  But end it did yesterday afternoon.  I handed the book over to Mr. Joe with tears flowing.  He won't be crying when he reads it, but I know he'll be cheering on the same pages where I was cheering.

Soon,
Lynn

  2. Because my son rowed and one of his crew went on to row for Washington, I was compelled to read that book. It gave me such insight to the sport even though we watched our son for a number of years and still follow (our) Canadian men.
