Gifts in the Mail

Hello Everyone,

I received a very nice surprise last week from Julie in Tallahassee. Julie was the winner of The Wilder Family Cookbook giveaway.  She made me a "mug rug" for the new coffee mug she sent me!   Look at all of the detail in the spool of thread.  It is a beautifully quilted "Spoolie Bird" of Julie's own design.  I have it right by my computer where I enjoy my first cup of coffee every morning.  It is so cute that I don't want to put my new mug on it in fear of a little spillage.

Julie and her sister Edie made this adorable needle case.  I never had a needle case!  This is going to be a permanent fixture in my quilting basket that I will take everywhere with me.

I virtually 'met' Julie and Edie on the Internet when they both signed up for my Party in the Garden BOM.  A few notes, emails, comments on the blog, and a quilting friendship developed through the words that were written in the  notes that were exchanged.  Thank you both so much for the gifts.  I really appreciate them.

I'm off to the shop this morning for the March Madness Shop Hop.  Click here for details.  While you are there, check out the free pattern the shop is offering for the Quilt Shop Carousel. Go to all of the shops listed, register with each shop on the Internet, and collect all free twelve patterns.   Let the HOPPING begin!

As always,

Lynn

    1. Hi Grace,
Julie designed this herself. I don't know if she ever offered the pattern for sale. ~~Lynn

  6. Julie is my Mom and I just came across this blog post in my Pinterest newsfeed - how cool!

She ended up starting a pattern design company in 2012 after so many people asked for the patterns to the quilts she was making for her friends - it is Stitches of Love Quilting. This little mug rug is now a full size quilt named Spoolie Bird and is available on the website: http://stitchesoflovequilting.com/spoolie-bird-pattern/ We offer ePatterns that are instant PDF downloads and also the printed patterns via mail.

I just called and told her that this showed up in my Pinterest feed and she said she would be happy to put together the mug rug pattern of spoolie bird - it will take her a few days to get it ready but I am happy to share that link when she has it completed!

This made my mom's day to know that her very first little mug rug is still well received!

    Happy Quilting,
    Brittany

    1. Thank you so much for your email Brittany! I had no idea your Mom had taken her quilting to a whole new level. Let me know when the pattern is ready, and I'll post a link to it on my blog. Your status is "no reply" so I can't email you directly. Take care,
      Lynn
