Hello Everyone,
As promised I said I would be posting a link to The Quilt Show.com and you can watch it without becoming a member. BUT, I highly encourage you to join TQS and become a card-carrying member. There is so much good information for quilters on their site. Just click on the Watch Me button and you are there! It doesn't get any better than FREE! After you click on the button, give the program a moment of two to begin.
Each dowel holds 8, 1" strips. It takes up less room and all of the strips are within easy reach. As Mr. Joe said, now you can sort your 50 shades of gray!! I did not come up with that one. He also wants you to know that his Strip'n Sew is MADE IN THE USA by a ruggedly handsome senior citizen. Contrary to popular belief, he is not intending to enter the Witness Protection Program because he keeps sanding off his fingerprints while making the Strip'n Sew. (We have way too much fun thinking up ideas for our marketing plan!)
Now I know I have been catching tons of grief for making my sister work all kinds of long hours with me on my quilts and I've only paid her in half cookies and glasses of whine.....I mean wine. Mr. Joe sent his sister-in-law the first Strip'n Sew off the assembly line. Am I off the hook now???
So please watch my segment on TQS and make a comment on my blog about the show. This is your chance to be a reviewer.....and the Oscar goes to??? I would love to hear what you think. (No wisecracks about my gray hair, I call it wisdom highlights. Also no cracks about the 50 pounds the camera added!) The contest will remain open until Saturday, February 28th at 12PST. Mazey, our adorable Golden Retriever will be the impartial judge and select the winning entry and post the winner Sunday, March 1st. Remember, I have to have an email address if you want to be the winner of the Strip'n Sew. You can also email a comment to sewnwildoaks@gmail.com and your name will be entered in the contest.
Mazey stops to smell the daffodils. Actually she ate it! |
Good luck in the contest.
Soon,
Lynn
I wil be watching your segment on my iPad during my lunch hour today. I look forward to it!!! OK, your strip sorter is something I desperately need!!!!! Please put me on the list to purchase one. What a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteLook at Maizy. What a cutie! Did she just catch her smelling the flowers? My golden would have smelled and then chomped those flowers. LOL
What a great idea for the strip sorter! Your husband is very talented. For years, I used to use a clothes rack, but your rack is smaller and easier to use, plus it doesn't take up as much room.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess you're off the hook for now! I do have to say I am honored to get the very first prototype off the assembly line from Mr. Joe's workshop. So many thanks to you both! I intend to put it to the test as early as tomorrow in your class when I "audition" 1" strips for your Grammy Squares pattern. Your pattern tester will be hard at work testing those directions for your new pattern. Will there be cookies tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to watch the Quilt Show but it's taking forever to come up. Love the Strip'n Sew rack that Mr Joe made. Please enter me in the drawing. See you on the 28th for the Country Charmer class. I might be a little disabled, but I will be there.
ReplyDeleteJeannesmith1868@comcast.net
Strip'n Sew is definitely the better choice of names!
ReplyDeleteGail definitely deserves the "roll out" :D
Your show is great, by the way!!!
Looking forward to watching. Mr. Joe is a keeper and Mazey has good taste!
ReplyDeleteYou have daffodils already? Ours got zapped by frigid 17 degree weather in Albuquerque. Its worse in other parts of the state. The roses got zapped as did fruit trees.
ReplyDeleteThank you So much for making it possible for me to watch you on the Quilt Show.
ReplyDeleteYou did a Awesome job , you are a natural :-D
Love the strip & Sew rack.
Your segment on the Quilt Show was fantastic. Thanks for sharing and also for the chance to win the rack.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait for the free week to see your World Premiere, so I plunked down my charge card and am, once again, a card carrying member! (It was cheaper than hopping a flight to Livermore!)
ReplyDeleteLeave it to Mr. Joe! I was planning to run around town and see about finding a pasta dryer, but I really like the idea that all my little strips could have stadium seating to keep an eye on my progress at the sewing machine!) I'm not sure why, but the tone of this post has me humming the William Tell Overture!
You did a great job on the show.....you didn't look nervous at all....I will be taking your math class as soon as I can....the pasta dryer is such a great idea....Mr Joe does wonderful work.....
ReplyDeleteI loved watching your segment on the show. Thank you for fixing it where we could tap the button to watch it. You made it look so easy.
ReplyDeleteOh Lynn, you are such a natural! You were wonderful, and it was so nice to see all of the lovely samples that you took to show - I would have loved to see your Country Charmer in red & green. And many thanks to the ruggedly handsome Mr. Joe for helping make sure that we're all stripping properly ;)
ReplyDeleteI've just watched your QuiltShow 'movie' and thought it was really great! I would have loved to have done Country Charmer when Lesley ran the sal but couldn't fit it in at the time. I love the idea of the rack - perfect idea for this scrappy sewer - thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to watching your episode of TQS tomorrow during my lunch hour. Love your humor regarding the Strip 'N Sew. Please enter my name in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great show! Now I really understand how to make the 8 hst's at once - so simple! Appreciated you showing how to label and keep track of the various strip widths on the pasta dryer too. And how to trim the corners - so much great information! Loved the way the blocks were so simple and interchangeable, a fun game. :)
ReplyDeleteYou were fantastic on the TQS. I loved your tools ( Locbloc) and how they allow you to trim away those points. Love the way you map out your blocks on a larger grid. I appreciate your use of the grid and how you dissect your blocks. What a great and educational show !!. I really want to do the Country Charmer ! You were very inspiring !!. Thanks for a educational & inspiring show.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your segment. I am a member so plan on lots of computer time with The Quilt Show. You were awesome on the show...they were lucky to have you. It is so wonderful that more quilters will get to meet you and learn from you!
ReplyDeleteI love it I just hinted to my husband I could really use something along these lines!!!!!! sonjasmith76@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI am a member of the quilt show and absolutely loved your segment , you did an awesome job and you are a great teacher , sure would love to be in your class .
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I am sure your sister has great entertainment when you two are working together. I love your giveaway, such a great idea. Can't wait to see you on the show. Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYou were great on the show, and so natural. It felt like I was sitting in on your class, just like I did at the quilts in the Garden show when I was staying with you.
ReplyDeleteLynn - So glad I finally get to watch your episode of TQS - you look like a pro who knows what she is talking about! Love the Strip 'n Sew - your hubby is very clever to make these...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your segment on the quilt show.
ReplyDeleteihave never thought about breaking down blocks into segments. It makes perfect sense, though. Tank you for sharing with us! cknapp3626@sbcglobal.net
Wow really cool!!!!! Way out there....:)
ReplyDeleteenjoyed your segment on TQS.I would like to learn Patchwork Math so I plan to purchase the book.I have short and long term memory loss so I need to reread things all the time. gandn74@ymail.com
ReplyDeleteJust watched the Quilt Show and your did a great job! Love the Strip and Sew rack. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteI did not know about the Quilt Show, I must sit and watch you. I use an airer but it is cumbersome, to hold strips. I love the fabric in your next post.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute that he doesn't want to take orders, cause I bet they would sell like hotcakes.
ReplyDeleteI love all your funny little plays on words in the post!! :-D And Yay! Mr Joe is making some lovely pasta dryers, I mean, strip holders!!!! It's funny, you use a pasta dryer to hold fabric: my MIL used to use the ironing board to dry her pasta on!! :-P Her love has cooking not sewing, if you can't tell!! I personally loved your segment on the show and just wished they would have let you have a little more time to show how your math works, knowing how much more there is to it than they let you show. But at least you are coming back to show more: Yay!! And I guess the movie title "Don't Eat the Daisies" had more truth to it than I realized! By the way, Mazey is looking so cute!! And I think I saw you on the Oscars the other night!! :-) Have a great week, Mrs. Movie Star!! Hugs, H in Healdsburg
ReplyDeleteYou make math seem so easy. Thanks for sharing AND thanks for the chance for the Strip sorter. That name sounds riske - like its a costume and wardrobe sorter backstage at the burlesque. lol
ReplyDeleteThank you for that very informative chance to watch you on TQS. I have considered joining but just haven't done so yet. After seeing how much information I can get from shows I really want to take advantage of it now. I really like the idea of a road map to help make sure each block is perfect. You did a great job of breaking down the block to make it doable for all of us. I do like the borders that you add to quilts. Mine are usually just simple and boring. I think I will have to try making them more exciting in the future. Oh, and tell Mr. Joe thanks for the Strip sorter. It would be great to win something made by a "ruggedly handsome senior citizen". By the way, I love your gray hair. A few years ago, when I was starting to turn gray, I was at the beauty salon getting a hair cut. The patron next to me asked the hairdresser, Larry, what color they had used on my hair because she wanted that color too. He said, without missing a beat, AGE.
ReplyDeleteYour were wonderful! My older computer had difficulty displaying the show in a continual process. You had a few "freezes" yet we made it through. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI loved your episode. I have been a fan ever since I purchased the Country Charmer pattern many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your segment on The Quilt Show very much. I'm so intrigued by the way you've made the math aspect of quilting so much easier. The strip n' sew is perfect for keeping those long strips in order. Thanks for the chance to win one.

I loved your show! What great tips: having a map block to insure each section is accurate, cutting the triangular tips on triangles before sewing for the right fit. Componets and how to adjust grid sizes for different block sizes. I missed the name of the ruller with the edge down the center...I'll have to look for this. And your organization system for strips--wow!!! Our area guild is having a class soon and the class has tons of strips! How organizing!! Congratulations on your success, Lynn--your career background helped you look at things in a very special way!
ReplyDeleteI also loved your show!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I also love your Strip'n Sew!
Haven't watched your segment yet, but will try tonight. Looking forward to it! Have to make sure not to use too much of my satellite internet service. So have to watch at off times. But, I am looking forward to the show and seeing what you have to say. Love the strip rack. Wow, this is so handy. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would love to watch your segment but was having problems... Sorry I can't comment on it, but if it is anything like your blog posts, I am guaranteed to be entertained!! Please put my name in the draw for this ingenious strip rack, your husband is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOff to watch right now. The strip rack is very clever and I would love to win one!
