Hello Everyone,
There are days when we feel as though we are living in a zoo. Here's proof of that statement. Mr. Joe and I just sat down at the dining room table when two cubs and their mom ran up a tree right by our deck. I love the grumpy face on the bottom cub.
The branches of the tree were just perfect for the cubs to take their naps. This is the only time I ventured outside to get a picture. The rest of the pictures were taken inside the safety of the cabin.
The cubs ventured down from the tree after napping for over an hour and a half. They went over to mama and started nursing.
Then she gathered up her kids, and headed over to the neighbor's cabin.
The surprising thing about this encounter was that we couldn't scare the bears away. Normally if you make enough loud noise they leave. We have to be on extra sharp alert when we are out in the yard from now on, more so now than ever before.
Just another day in our mountain life.
Soon,
Lynn
WOW! Just a little too close for comfort for me!
ReplyDeleteThey were close. We are hoping they won't start living in the drainage pipe.
DeleteOh Lynn! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm glad that Mazey got into the house safely and also glad you were brave enough to get these pictures! Most of us will never see anything like this ourselves...
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised I was brave enough to get Mazey in the house! I didn't have to think twice about her safety.
DeleteI know they are so dangerous, but I love the look on the babies faces while up the tree looking through the window. Who is in the cage - really!! What fun - but scary for Mazey. Thankfully she minded you. What an experience. Mama does not look so happy in the drainpipe. She is definitely keeping an eye on things. I wonder how often she is in there, but you don't know it. Yikes!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy seeing the bears in the wild when we are in the cabin. We have always been able to shoo them away, but not this time. Yikes is right!
DeleteEek! I'm not sure I would want to be your "zoo keepers" Lynn! Stay safe!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are more aware of our surroundings more now than ever before when we go outside. What worries me is that Mazey wasn't afraid, or else she thought she was protecting us.
DeleteOh so impressive, but glad they're in your back yard not mine! Thanks so much for sharing the photos, very brave to get the cubs in the tree. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping they don't set up permanent housekeeping in our yard!
DeleteOh they are adorable! Definitely from the inside of the cabin. I am a city girl so I would be terrified of seeing the bears in person.
ReplyDeleteWe have always been able to "shoo" them away until now.
DeleteOh those cubs & mama bear are so cute .... from afar and indoors! Hopefully you'll see them periodically to see how they've grown! Glad you'll be careful when going outside. Keep a good eye on your dog.
ReplyDeleteWe should be able to keep track of the cub with the unique white markings. They were cute, but we know they can be so dangerous. We were just chatting with the neighbors around the corner, and a big cinnamon-colored bear was at their house last night.
DeleteWe live farther up towards Dorrington and cinnamon bear frequents our area 🐻
DeleteExciting and scary at the same time. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to get several cans of “bear spray” to keep near outside doors in case of emergency.
