Hello Everyone,
Yesterday I started my day selecting fabrics for the new quilt. All things Fall went into the mix. That purple polka dot really shows up!
Then I made a bunch of HST.
Then turned them into this, a corner square triangle with HST.
Then I gave it wings.....
....and started playing around with border ideas.
I need to sprout some wings so I can fly through my day. My to-do list includes getting ready for weekend company, finishing up the border sections, grocery shopping, and preparing applique pieces for five more pumpkins. I think I need a nap. When I look at my pumpkins, I'm thinking I need to make a red one to go along with the purple pumpkin and maybe a green pumpkin too. Why be conventional?
The corner square triangle unit is one of the twelve components that I'll be teaching at Quilting in the Garden in September. I'll be demonstrating how to resize this component and make several variations of this unit. It's fun and easy to make. My kitchen table looks like a bushel basket of leaves got tossed on it. I love it!
Sprout some wings today and let's all fly through our day together. Soar with creativity and beauty.
Soon,
Lynn
I'm soaring as high as I can but I just can't find that creativity cloud...giggle! Enjoy your day...sometimes our busiest days are the most fun!

Do I ever love that show of color, Lynn! Your pumpkins look better than the ones in my patch for sure! LOVE your border idea - I've not seen that before! I think I need a ride on your broom, er, wings!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
You can join me on my broom anytime you want to Candace and we will soar to great quilting heights! I'm still chuckling from your comment....Mr. Joe would agree with you! ~~Lynn
DeleteI recently spent some time making HSTs and came up with an entirely different block. But that is the beauty of those blocks - there is such diversity with how to use them. I love your border. And the way you described making them. I bet your class will be a hit!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Jayne. It's fun to turn the HST's every which way and make a new design. Thank you for commenting. ~~Lynn
DeleteJust love the colours in your quilt and so far it's looking great.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Susan. I'm working on the borders right now.....but I needed a break to read my email. ~~Lynn
DeleteI could dive right into those rich fabrics - I love 'em!
ReplyDeleteHope to see you at the Christmas QAL this weekend if you have time to drop by!
I wouldn't miss the QAL Hazel! (Well, I did miss is last month.) But I have to tell you, I'm struggling with my choice of colors. You know me, I use every color of the rainbow and it's hard not to include red and green. See you on Saturday at your house/blog. ~~Lynn
DeleteOh how I wish I lived closer and could attend a class. My quilt math skills are lousy. I love your fall color selections.

I wish I had your 'color sense"!
