Country Charmer Update

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was a nice rainy day to sit in my sewing room and make more blocks for Country Charmer.  I'm trying to incorporate lots of different colors for variety and interest.

Those of you in the Country Charmer Quilt Along know that some blocks go together easier than others when it comes to selecting the colors.  I've been trying to work with teal blues in this quilt.  Teal is such a difficult color to find.  Just like good plaids, whenever I see a nice teal blue fabric, I buy it! My stash is getting low in the teal department.

I wanted to make a 'lighter' block for the mix and I came up with this combination.  I'll most likely make a couple of more blocks that are lighter, just so this one doesn't stand out in the crowd with a big bullseye on it.

Here's a collage of the blocks without the sashing.  The sashing will make the blocks stand on their own two feet and set them apart.

My goal is to have this quilt finished in time for the Amador Valley Quilt Show April 20th & 21st in Pleasanton, CA.  I'm going to have a booth at the show for the first time!  My sister Gail is going to help me 'woman' the booth.  So mark your calendars and plan on spending the day at the show and stop by my booth and say hello.  The guild always puts on a great, inspirational show. Alex Anderson is going to be the featured artist. It doesn't get much better than this folks!

Enjoy your day and make the most of every minute.

Soon,
Lynn

  1. Country Charmer is my all time favorite Lynn Wilder pattern. Sigh! I'm regretting not jumping on the sew along bandwagon. Yes, I know I can join anytime but I want to make it with the original colors and Between Stitches has sold out of the kits. Bigger Sigh! I'll just continue to stand on the sidelines and enjoy the show. :-)

  5. What a wonderful job! Love your colors. I'm using "Jingle All The Way" fabric line and I've found that some of the colors are very strong so I've had to dig through my stash to find some softer reds/greens to kind of tone down things a bit. I've also found that what I THOUGHT was 1/4" on my sewing machine wasn't! Sheesh....anyway I'm going slow but steady (only have two blocks done) but I've really learned alot and can't thank you enough for this virtual quilt class. Once I got the first block done, block #2 was a breeze.

  6. I have the pattern. I just can't seem to figure out what fabric to use. I thought about red, white, and blue. But then Christmas fabrics sound fun too. Such a choice!

  8. Beautiful blocks, I love all three.
I have another block made, will save it to show with more as they get made.
Yes, that 1/4 inch seam...just a tiny bit out can make all the difference to the sizing.
    Thanks Lynn.

  11. Your blocks are beautiful. I have my pattern but I'm still hemming and hawing on fabric choices. I was wondering if you'd share what fabric maker/lines you've used so far.
