The Bonds of Friendship

Hello Everyone,

I had a busy day at In Between Stitches yesterday putting the kits together for Harvest of Hope.  The border fabric is expected to arrive soon, and then the kits will be ready for sale.

Here's a close-up of the fat 1/8's I selected for the kits. I'm like a little kid in a quilting candy shop when I make kits.  The shop has such a variety of choices, which makes it hard to choose which fabrics make "the cut" for the kit.

It's impossible to make a kit identical to my quilt since  I used fabrics I've collected over the years.  The fabrics I selected for the kits have the same look and feel as the original quilt.  I was able to include the same fabrics for most of the barn right down to the hex sign.

On another subject, we had a wonderful time with our company from Kansas.  Our time together was too short, but we were able to share some of our favorite places on the planet with them.  Calaveras Big Trees State Park is spectacular especially this time of year with the changing dogwoods.

Take a good look Quilt Sue, since you will be taking a walk through these giants on your visit to California.

We also took our company to Lake Alpine and had dinner at the lodge.  We will take Quilt Sue here too.  I never tire of the majestic mountain views.

Our company arrived from Kansas early last Friday morning and we headed to the mountains.  The guys hadn't seen each other since their Air Force days 49 years ago.  I had never met them.  Jane and Jerry were the kind of people that you instantly felt like you've known forever. They were so much fun to be with, and we realized just how much we had in common, right down to the television shows we watch.  Old friendships were rekindled and new friendships were made and we are looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Speaking of new friendships, one week from today, Quilt Sue arrives from England.  We've been emailing back and forth for at least three years, maybe more.  We've never met, but I'm expecting our "Bond Across the Pond" to be a strong one.

Soon,
Lynn

  2. That fabric is gorgeous, but check out those trees!! I'll bet your visitors from Kansas were amazed. I don't think they have anything quite like that there!
