The Last Day of the Retreat

Hello Everyone,

Here we are in all of our glory the last morning as my Sew'n Wild Oaks retreat came to a close.  I enjoy every single one of these women soooooo much!  I love you all.  It is always sad for me when everyone starts to trickle out the door and head back to their homes.  Luckily, most of us will get to see each other again soon.

Here are a few more snippets of some of the projects "my girls" worked on during our time together.

Check out the earrings!

We even had our very own personalized scarecrow.  Great blocks Paula!

Gail, Sue, Lynn and Nancy posing by the fire.  We really didn't need the fire going toward the end of the week, but it provided a lot of atmosphere.

If any of you are interested in attending one of my retreats, please send an email to:  sewnwildoaks@gmail.com   I will put you on the waiting list.  Next year I'm planning three retreats.....August, September and October. The past attendees always have right of first refusal.  I opened up a new session next year to accommodate the overflow. How about a retreat a month and I'll just move to Snowflake Lodge and set up housekeeping?

Today we are taking Quilt Sue to Yosemite.  I can't wait to see her reaction to the beauty of the park, our national treasure, and my favorite place on earth.

Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat Day Three

Hello Everyone,

Another whirlwind of a day at Snowflake Lodge for the Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat.  The girls have been sewing up a storm.  Here are a few snippets of their work.

This gives you an idea how small the block is for Checkerberry.  Note Irene's precision.  Yes, that is a peanut butter cup to give you some perspective.

Laurie is making four Checkerberry's to give as presents.

Some of the girls are working on their Homemade Holidays table runner.  This is my newest design and a good, quick project for Christmas.

There are several Lucy Boston blocks in the room too.

There are also several Lil' Orphan Scrappy blocks in the room.

Now we have a quilt parade.

This is the back of the Bargello beauty.

Here's my contribution to the mix.  A new little design using Elizabeth Dowry fabric from Marcus Brothers.  This will be a new pattern in the next couple of weeks.

There were several jelly roll quilts in the room.

Dianne got all wrapped up in Irene's quilt.

Nancy's Country Charmer is ready and waiting for borders.

There are six of us sitting around the dining room table enjoying our morning coffee before we head down to the lodge.  Today is the last day of the retreat.....always bittersweet.

Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat Day Two

Hello Everyone,

Day two started off with a chuckle when so many of the girls showed up in their jammies.

Workstations were set up and the quilting began in earnest.

My lectures started at 9am.

We had a delicious brunch.

A walk around the lake was in order after our brunch.

Gail was queen for the day since it was her birthday.  She was in the lifeguard's chair and was going to save us all!

The floating dock almost capsized with all of us on board.  It started to list......and we scrambled to keep it upright.

We have a little bit of fall color around the lake.

Sue actually braved the threat of bears and walked around the lake in the afternoon.

Nancy from Nancie Anne Quilts is also at the retreat. She entertained us with her very own parade of quilts.

Nancy was a pattern tester for Quilt Sue.  Here are two versions of Sue's Red Sprinkles pattern.

Four deer heard the laughter and came by to check out what was going on at the lodge.

Here's a panoramic shot of our work area.

Here are Sue's Sexie Hexie blocks.  More on this as we watch it grow.

Off we go today for another fun day at the retreat.

Lynn
