Three posts in one day! That is almost a record for me. So at the last post, I was stitching the strip sets together and I ended up with this. All of the misfit fabrics look great together!
.....and then I started making mittens of every shape, size, right or left, it didn't matter. This idea came to me last year when the grand kids were at the cabin playing in the snow. At one point during the evening, I looked over at the wood burning stove, and it was decorated with mittens....all different sizes and colors. I tucked that decorating idea in the back of my brain and brought it out into the light this winter.
I used wool batting, cute little fabric for the cuffs, sewed them together and turned them right side out.
I'll glue a yo-yo on the side and maybe a button. You'll have to wait for the next post to see how I'm going to display my mittens and use them as a decoration. I may put them in the Christmas tree, I may put them on the table to hold silverware on the Christmas place mats, I may even use them to decorate packages. I have an endless amount of uses for these little guys.
I told you I had something up my sleeve.....or down my sleeve.....whatever! I will never have to look for a matching set of mittens again because none of them match! Brilliant!
As always,
Lynn
You are so stinking clever! Those turned out wonderfully and I can't wait to see how you decorate with them...though I guess I do have a long wait!
ReplyDeleteThat's so clever. You could make a table runner the same way and put that on the table with them mittens as cutlery holders or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely surprized. Great idea. And, yes, the misfit fabrics do look great together.
ReplyDeleteHow fun making the mittens! Love the idea of making them with that way. So cute and inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteYou're too clever for words, Lynn! What an adorable project! I should get my rear in gear - this year Mr. Squash expects me to have all my holiday sewing done by Jun 1 - LOLOL!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
What a great idea...so clever. At first I thought it was a table runner..
