Seasonal Hexie Table Topper

Hello Everyone,

I've been so preoccupied with so many projects that I forgot to post project #3 for Henry Glass & Co.  I made a little table topper using Country Journey fabric by Jan Mott.  These are so easy to make, and they are a great hostess gift.

I began with 1-1/2" strips, and stitched them on every other side of the hexagon, and pressed toward the strip.

Then I lined up the 60 degree line on my ruler along the seam line, and trimmed two ends at a time.

I rotated the center and just kept trimming along the 60 degree line.

I just kept adding different sized strips until it reached about 20" across.

I have enough fabric to make one for every season.  I just need more time to make them.  The pattern is available HERE on my Etsy site.

Today, my goal is to finish making all of the blocks for Red Sky at Night.  However,  I may be enticed to go outside and enjoy our gorgeous weather.  Last year, we were snowed in for most of the month of February......this year nothing.....hardly a drop of rain or a flake of snow.  It was so warm yesterday, we ate lunch out on our deck. I love a good storm while we hunker down in the cabin with a roaring fire, and a pot of soup on the stove.  I hope and pray we aren't going to be entering another drought cycle in California. We still have a couple of months when we can expect more rain.  Let's hope for some gully washers.

Moda Block Heads Block #4

Hello Everyone,

So far, I'm managing to keep up with Moda's Block Head 3 program.  This little block was designed by Jan Patek.

I did a little reverse applique in the opening of my birdhouse.  Only hummingbirds can squeeze through this little hole!

Here are all of my completed 8" blocks so far.  I'm using only Betsy Chutchian fabrics in my quilt.  This is a long program, and there will be many opportunities to incorporate a lot of different fabrics.  It really has been fun so far.  I look forward to the challenge posted every Wednesday.

Today, I'm getting back to my regularly scheduled program which is my latest design.  I've decided to call this one Red Sky At Night.   As in the phrase, red sky at night, sailors' delight.  I just picture the stars shimmering through a red sky.

This fabric is from Betsy's newest line called Nancy's Needle.  I have fifteen more blocks to make.....and then there are the borders.  I have an idea which is pretty intense for the borders.  I may have to call in the troops to help!

I hope you have smooth sailing today in your sewing rooms.

Lynn

The Nameless Quilt

Hello Everyone,

This is my "free" month where I can work on whatever I want to work on.  This wonderful grouping of Nancy's Needle fabrics by Betsy Chutchian, has been calling my name.....quite loudly at times.

These are the two blocks that I'll be combining in the quilt.

This is just a sample of what is on my design wall, and what the quilt layout is going to look like.  I absolutely love the "chain" effect in this quilt.

All of the centers will contain a paisley.

This is just part of the Nancy's Needle line of fabrics.  It is just so me, right up my alley right into my wheelhouse.

Well, my team didn't win the Super Bowl yesterday.  It was a good game, and I congratulate the Kansas City Chiefs for their great comeback.  We had some friends over, along with my sister Gail.  We grazed our way through the appetizer table during the game.  Toward the last 6 minutes, no one left their chair for any food......but we did make a trip to the wine bar!  Purely for medicinal purposes.
