Ravenswood Victorian Yuletide

Hello Everyone,

 

I was so honored when I was asked if I would display my quilts in the cottage at Ravenswood during the Victoria Yuletide event this Sunday in Livermore.

 

 

The event is FREE!  You can't beat that. If you need a break from shopping, wrapping, and baking, come on over to Ravenswood and step back in time to see a true Victorian Yuletide, and get a good dose of Christmas spirit. The weather should be perfect while strolling through the beautiful grounds. 

The 100 acre estate was built in the late 1880's and is a treasured historic site in the Livermore Valley.  My quilts will be on display in the cottage, which is the building on the left hand side of the picture.  The main house is on the right.

Three years ago I did a photo shoot with For the Love of Baskets in the cottage and around the grounds of the former winery.

 



It was the perfect location to get some great pictures.

This wall is part of the former winery.

I may even put another quilt in the bathtub when I'm staging the quilts on Sunday.

Nothing gets me in the Christmas more than listening to carolers.

 

I hope to get a lot of great pictures during the staging process of ten or twelve of my quilts.  Stayed turned for the pictures next week.

Making Gifts

Hello Everyone,

 

I feel like I'm a pillow making factory here at the cabin.  I'm making pillow tops out of the Forever Green line of fabric by Holly Taylor.

 



 

I'm cutting the center 4-1/2" for a 4" finished center. Don't you love the plaid flange!

 



 

Then I make 32, 1" Y-squares to place in the second border which gives it a nice look.  You can watch my Y-square video on The Quilt Show by clicking HERE.  If you are interested in the Patchwork Math book, it is located HERE in my Etsy store. The pillow is more of a Winter design so I can get many months of use.  I have also thought about stitching three of the 18" x 18" pillow tops together to make a table runner.  We'll see just how much time I have to pull that one off!

 The fabric line comes with this panel.  I'll whip 24 of these pillows up in the next few days......right?

It really is a nice fabric line.  Just perfect for cabin life.  Now if I just had time to make one for me!

Toys Dancing in our Heads

Hello Everyone,



 

I've been busy cleaning and decorating.  That job seems to go hand in hand.  We are going to have toys dancing over our heads while we dream and think about Christmas.

 



I have most of my quilts home, so I'm putting them on display around the house.  The quilt on the bed is called Sallie's Quilt by Red Crinoline.  The original quilt was made with blue setting triangles.  I preferred the red, so that's what I did.

The pillows are an old, old Thimbleberries pattern.  I pretty much leave them out year-round.

A folded up Toyland Tree is hanging on the quilt rack.  It is so much fun to rearrange the quilts for an entirely different look.

I'm afraid if we have an earthquake, we will be pommeled with snowballs from the snowman collection on the top shelf.  We were here one time during an earthquake.  This old log home creaked and groaned like my knees when I get up in the morning.  I was afraid it was going to topple like a Lincoln Log house.

I have a full day of more decorating and straightening up.  My quilting room is next on the to-do list. I sure can make a mess when I put my mind to it!  My pristine quilting room has become somewhat of a dumping ground from our last trip back home.  I'm trying to bring another bin or two of fabric back with me.  I haven't figured out where it's going to go yet.  All of the Christmas presents are sitting on the floor too.  Maybe if I start wrapping, it will take care of part of the mess.
