It's Raining Quilters

 Hello Everyone,

The clouds gave way to blue sky yesterday afternoon after a record breaking 11.39" of rain in 24 hours here in the mountains of Northern California.  The rain did not stop the quilters from their appointed rounds to get themselves to Snowflake Lodge for my Sew'n Wild Oaks quilt retreat.

The girls gathered around the fireplace for their morning coffee.

Last night we had a wonderful show and tell session, and I'm going to sprinkle a few of the quilts into this post.

The girls started in working right away, after they finished visiting with friends they haven't seen in two years.

Paula's Lil' Orphan Scrappy.

Cindy is make a shop sample of A Ribbon Runs Through It.

My sister's Country Sunshine quilt.

Lil' Orphan Scrappy.

Dianne decorated her workspace with purple Halloween lights.

Lots of goodies in the Sew'n Wild Oaks quilt shop.

Deborah's Crossing the Pond blocks.

Two heads are better than one when it comes to fixing a bobbin issue.

What can I say about these goof balls?  Just so much fun!

Linda is cutting up "dead people" - her words not mine!

Linda is a genealogist, and is making a quilt for her mother in law.

Laurie's Leaf Peepers quilt.

I did a little bit of teaching.

This is so much creativity, caring, sharing, laughter, and companionship in the room.  I feel so blessed to call these wonderful women my friends.

Many thanks to Karen for walking outside after the rains stopped to get a photo or two of the fall color, the lake, and the beautiful sky.

The weather event was called a once in 200 year storm. Sacramento broke a record set in 1880 for the most rain in a 24 hour period!  The rain was relentless and torrential.  We really needed the rains, and hopefully more will arrive to fill our reservoirs and get us out of the drought.

Soon,
Lynn

  3. Oh, my word! I recognize one of your retreaters from following her blog way back when! I've missed that lady's wonderful work. I was wondering how you guys did with the storm. Glad you got wonderful rain for the area, even if in inconvenient amounts/times. The retreat looks fabulous.
