What's happening at Wilder's Last Resort

 Hello Everyone,

I'm happy to announce that my friend Melissa, from Honeybee Fabrics is going to offer my Timeless quilt as a BOM and as a kit! You can register for her program HERE.

The program will start in May, and she is also setting up a Timeless Facebook page which I will be monitoring along with Melissa to answer any of your questions and post tutorials.  Melissa runs a good, affordable program and I encourage you to sign up with her.  While on her site, check out her other BOM programs.

The first month's tutorial is the center medallion of the quilt beginning with a square in a square.  If you had issues in the past making them, the tutorial will help you iron out any of your past issues and you will enjoy the process. I have LOVED working with my new fabric line, Timeless Stitches by Marcus Fabrics.

The entire line is so much like Spring exploding in my sewing room!

The tutorial also covers making the double flying geese. And there are lots of the little ones!

At night, because I just can't be idle, I'm working on a project that doesn't have a name or an end result, I'm just having fun with the process.

My first retreat of the year begins the last week of April, and I've been deciding what to teach.  I love working with wool, and I've always wanted to recreate the top section of my Harvest of Hope quilt into a wool table runner.  I brought the image into my computer and added scallops to the border.

Here is a picture of the entire quilt, which would look fabulous in wool, but I'm just going to concentrate on the top portion.  It's never too early to start working on projects for Fall!

I've also submitted everything to Marcus Fabrics for a new Christmas fabric line which was approved immediately by management.  The line will be unveiled this Fall with a shipping date of next year, just in time to start a new Christmas BOM for Marcus Fabrics.  My poor little pea brain has been drowning in ideas swimming around in it day and night.  Let me just say there is a fantastic plaid or two in the line.

On a personal note, Mr. Joe is still having health issues.  He's had a lot of doctors' appointments as they are trying to understand what's wrong and how to help him.  Keeping him well-nourished and trying to keep his spirits up has become a full-time occupation. You know what they say about old age is not for the faint of heart.

Lynn

Harvest of Hope

Hello Everyone,

Here are pictures from my Harvest of Hope photoshoot from several years ago.

I love to have this quilt on display each and every Fall.  It makes me so happy to see all of the colors of Fall incorporated into the quilt.

We were so lucky to have this horse and carriage stop by while we were photographing.

It's almost time for those grapes to be harvested.

I'm not quite sure what this piece of farm equipment does, but if must have something to do with the harvest.

The quilt has been on display on my $3.00 wooden rake (I can never pass up a bargain!) in our bedroom for several months now.  After Thanksgiving, I'll hang up a Christmas quilt to honor that season.

If you had told me in March that we would still be held captive by this virus for the rest of the year, I wouldn't have believed you.  It's just amazing how quickly the days, weeks, and months have flown by.  Yes, I have virus fatigue like many of you, but we just need to hold on a bit longer.

I do feel there is HOPE on the horizon with the development of the vaccine.  I feel that we will be able to get together soon in our quilting groups.   Quilters sow the seeds of hope, love, friendship, and gratitude. Then they harvest that love, and fill their hearts to overflowing every time they gather together.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Soon,
Lynn

Sew'n Wild Oaks Class was in Session

Hello Everyone,

Another wonderful day was had by all in the classroom at In Between Stitches.  We cover just about every topic you can imagine from politics to movies from the 1960's, and theme songs.  We love to talk about music so Susan will sing to us!

Cindy brought in her adorable, Jo Morton wall hanging. Precious.

Barbara brought in her completed Once Upon a Vine all quilted and bound!

Lora Zmak worked her free motion quilting magic by adding grapes and grape leaves.

This beauty will be on display in the shop very soon for all to see.  Great job!

Suzanne is adding grapes and fruit to her cornucopia for Harvest of Hope.  Wonderful fabric selection.

Diana is determined to finish her Toyland Tree quilt.  I love displaying my Toyland during the Holidays.

Judy is making good progress on her hexies for Grammy Squares.

Cindy is working on her cute little hexie flowers for Winter's Warmth/Summer's Blush.  I always say it took me an hour per flower on this one.  There are something like 48 flowers......but who's counting?

Gail is putting beautiful combinations together for her Lil' Orphan Scrappy quilt.

Now we have the parade of blocks for a Walk in the Park by Kim Diehl.

The blocks go together very quickly.

Lynette decided to add a new little spark to some of her centers by adding a quarter square triangle instead of a plain square.  I love to see the girls add their own touch of creativity to the designs.

I saved another finish for the close of my post today.  Jeanne has her whole top completed for Lil' Orphan Scrappy.  She used her scraps from her Country Charmer quilt.  That is the reason Lil Orphan Scrappy got her name.  The largest scrap you need is 5-1/4" x 5-1/4".

Love the border.  Jeanne also found an omission on the pattern.  The HST around the border need to be trimmed to 4-3/4" x 4-3/4".  That measurement has now been added to page 7 of the pattern. Well done Jeanne!  You get extra credit for discovering my blunder.....I mean omission!

When customers pop their heads into the classroom, it is fun to see their expressions of joy and amazement when they see the different projects around the room.  It is magical.

Make some magic today.

Soon,
Lynn

Sew'n Wild Oaks Class Was in Session

Hello Everyone,

Top of the morning to you!  The crowing from Kathy's rooster couldn't begin to get me out of bed this morning.  There are so many good things going on at Sew'n Wild Oaks which I'm not able to share with you just yet......but I will soon!  All of the good things are taking me away from my normal routine.  Normal is highly over-rated.

Anyway, last Tuesday was my Sew'n Wild Oaks class at In Between Stitches.  As always, the girls have been busily working on their projects during the month.  Kathy's Harvest of Hope blocks are amazing.

Everything Kathy does is incredibly precise and gorgeous.

Nancy is working on her Country Corners blocks.  She came with a box full of finished blocks and we put just a few up on the design wall.  It is fun to compare the different look by turning the blocks on point.

She will put setting triangles in the edges if she chooses this layout.  Do you have a preference?

In this photo, Nancy made 11 components from my Patchwork Math book.  She arranged and re-arranged them to create several different designs.  This is so much fun and so creative.  The hardest part is trying to decide which way to put the components.

Kathy is also making Country Corners.  She's added a few additional blocks which aren't in the book to add more variety.

We borrowed Nancy's Courthouse Steps blocks and created this layout for Kathy.  Can you tell we had fun playing?

Karen has lots and lots of beautiful Grammy Squares blocks made.  I wish you could see all of her cute center hexagons.  Karen has more blocks completed......we just ran out of wall space.

Gail has a ton of blocks made too.  She only displayed the blocks that she worked on during class.  Look at all the wonderful plaids and stripes!

Wendy is working on nine baskets full of flowers.  She is so determined to get this project completed for Fall.  I love her little flowers.

Maryanne is working on a beautiful quilt made from batiks.  She finished piecing the beautiful back of the quilt in class.

Patty got her whole quilt top together during class.  The day started with individual blocks.....by the end of the day she had Once Upon a Vine ready for the borders.

Donna Fay made great progress on her Butterscotch Baskets quilt.  She made wonderful use of charm packs to make the blocks.  Well done!

I will be teaching Patchwork Math at Cloth and Quilts tomorrow in Turlock. I'm looking forward to meeting some new quilters, and spending the day in the spacious classroom and quilt shop full of reproduction fabrics!

Sunday, I'm teaching Lucy Boston at In Between Stitches.  I'm going to have a busy weekend, so I'll be busily preparing today.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Lynn

Sew'n Wild Oaks Class is in Session

Hello Everyone,

The following phenomenal quilts and projects are proudly brought to you by my Sew'n Wild Oaks girls.  They have been busy!!  Remember, they are finishers.  Kathy has been diligently working on her Toyland Tree quilt, and it is going to be decorating her home for Christmas.

Kathy personalized her little baby doll with smocking, embroidery, lace and other embellishments which make her look so real.

Her quilt is incredible.....a real heirloom!

Suzanne is working on UFO's and isn't this one cute and timely.

I started another Holiday Treats Tablerunner.  This is a pattern by Laura Nownes.  It is so much fun to make the little presents and machine applique the little plaid, polka dot, and checked bows in place.

Cindy is finishing up two Nostalgic Christmas pillows.  They are so cheerful.

The next grouping of pictures are all made from my Country Corners blocks using the Patchwork Math book.  Here are Kathy's blocks which she made from scraps from all different projects.

Barbara brought in her tabletopper that she designed to fit an 8-sided table using a variety of Christmas fabrics.

This is my Country Corners scrappy version.....more blocks will be added this week.

This is Paula's adorable block.

This is Susan's light and airy block.

Gail has half of her Winterset sewn together!  This is a labor of love.  Gail chose to bypass the applique and make the quilt larger by adding lots of extra blocks.  You'll be seeing more of this one as it grows and grows.

Isabelle designed a quilt for the coach of her daughter's ice skating team.  Each block represents and aspect of the team from bake sales to, different skating formation, to ice skates, to a first place trophy.  The coach is going to be amazed!

Marti is making some patchwork for Mittens with Moxie.  It takes awhile to get to this point and Marti is doing a great job.

The following blocks are all from Harvest of Hope. Suzanne made some great looking pumpkins.

Kathy finished her barn and sunflower.  I could live in this bar!

Isabelle finished her acorn block.  So pretty.

Patty is working on her October Magic quilt. Once she gets the applique section completed, the rest is going to be easy!

Irene has a good start on her For The Love of Baskets.  The baskets finish as 4".

She has a gorgeous little pile going!

Aren't my girls the quilting machines!  They out did themselves this time.  The classroom at In Between Stitches was filled with beauty on the wall and at each work station.  Well done by all!

Lynn
