Patchwork Math Class is in Session

Hello Everyone,

I had the privilege of teaching Patchwork Math to a fun group of quilters from the Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Southern Alameda County last Saturday.  Here is a preview of some of their handiwork.

Their selection of fabrics was rich and varied.

Most of the girls made 9" blocks.

The best part is arranging and rearranging all of the components into beautiful blocks.

Sandy made a 6" block out of the same components.  Her components were so tiny compared to the rest of the components on the design wall.

Everyone in the class made the same exact components, but look how different the blocks appear.

The girls did a fabulous job on their precise components and I think they learned a lot.

Thank you so much for inviting me to teach.

Yesterday was family day and an early morning hike into Little Yosemite at Sunol Regional Park.  Our oldest son and his family couldn't make it to the hike, but they came over later in the afternoon.

Mazey thoroughly enjoyed her hike and a chance to play in the water. She loves spending time with all of her little kids.  She only got Mr. Joe a little wet!

It was a beautiful day to enjoy family and nature.  I am one lucky Mom!

Soon,
Lynn

  1. There is no end to the creativeness that can be found in rearranging quilt pieces. That is one of the best things about quilting. Each quilt is so personal:)
    Happy sewing!

  2. I have read enough of your blog now to know that I am going to be hooked on this 'quilter's math' business - and that is saying something, for I am nearly phobic about numbers and math! I love the looks you get from all these variations.

So nice of you to share with us your family outing. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

  3. Now that's a colorful group of gals! Sounds like a very fun trip for the Sister Act! From the looks of Mazey, Mr. Joe better get his wet suit out soon! Hmmm...can you still be a ruggedly handsome senior citizen in a wet suit?!
    Cheers!
