Play List Week of 9/5 - 9-12

 Hello Everyone,

The play list for this week was an easy one, and a long one for me to put together.  I have a lot of great things going on this week.

Here's a solid gold play list as we celebrate our golden anniversary.

The Wonder of You - Elvis

It Had to be You - Frank Sinatra

Through the Years - Kenny Rogers

Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran

Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis

Grow Old Along with Me - Mary Chapin Carpenter

Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers

When I'm 64 - The Beatles (That ship has sailed quite some time ago!)

I can't believe that we've been married for five decades!  Time has a way of traveling way too fast. I'm so blessed to have traveled the road with Mr. Joe as he is the perfect traveling companion. We had matching hair back then and now.  Mr. Joe is solid gold, and he still has hair!

I will post pictures of the party for you next week.  The party planners are our three children and my sister, Gail.  I know she has been working very hard on a slide show for weeks!  This is going to be fun.
Click HERE if you want to read the post about how we met.  It is very comical!

When we left the town of Paradise for our honeymoon, we had a whopping $250.00 in our pocket.  We thought we were wealthy beyond belief!  We didn't have a care in the world as we set out in a 1967 Mustang fastback with a 390 engine.  The price of gas today would have made a huge dent in our $250.00!

We will be with the family for quite a few days this week.  Here's the play list for the rest of the week.

Are You Ready for Some Football? - Hank Williams

Game Day - Ray Johnston Band

The entire soundtrack to the movie 'Rudy'

Our grandson Jess has a JV football game Friday night.   He scored a TD last week.  The coach told the players at the beginning of the season he would buy pizza for the entire team if a defensive lineman scored.  It's time to pay up coach!

Our grandson Kade has a freshman football game on Thursday night. This is going to be so exciting! Both of our sons played football in high school, and we were their biggest supporters.  We spent so much time in the stands, the boys wanted to carve our names in the bleachers.  We will be warming the pines in those very same bleachers this week.  I'm looking forward to the entire week of quality family time.

We had a visitor while we were eating dinner on the deck last night.  Mazey looks calm, but our early warning system was furiously barking.

It is the same bear with the distinctive markings that we see on a regular basis.  People are always asking me if we get scared when we see a bear.  The answer is no because they don't want anything to do with us as long as there aren't any cubs involved.  We take an air horn with us when we walk the neighborhood, but we've only used it when two dogs charged us.  The dogs scared me more than the bears!

My next Sew'n Wild Oaks retreat starts in 3 weeks, so let the preparations begin....again.

California is in the grip of a serious heat wave.  I try to get all of my computer work completed in the early morning hours because of the threat of rolling black outs.  There are so many "summer people" in the area for the holiday and more people adds more stress on the power grid.  During the 4th of July, the power was out for 18 hours.  Our generator is at the ready, our cars are filled with gas, the fridge is full, and we are ready to hunker down and enjoy the tranquility of mountain life.  We get our little mountain community back to ourselves this week and life will return to normal activity at the grocery store!  There isn't a hot dog or hot dog bun to be found in town.  Right now, the grocery store is a zoo......no wait, our backyard is a zoo!

Soon,
Lynn

  1. congratulations on your 50th - my Mike and I celebrated our 50th in June and you are right it doesn't seem that long and I bet there aren't that many of us at that stage anymore. If I remember right gas for our first car was about 30 cents a gallon

    1. You and John were there from the beginning. Our first date was a barbeque at your house. It was a long time ago, yet is seems like yesterday.
