The Big Reveal

 Hello Everyone,

The big reveal arrived early!  Marcus Fabrics posted on their website, so now I can finally show you what I've been working on for weeks.....if not months.

The wait is over to see my new BOM and fabric collection for Marcus Fabrics! The quilt is called 'Bridle Path' and the fabric collection is called 'Hearthstone'. The sashing represents the Packhorse Librarians travelling along trails and paths in the mountains and hollers of Kentucky delivering books and spreading literacy to remote areas during the 1930's. The plaid fabric is called 'Highlander' which represents the Scottish influence in the area. The name 'Hearthstone' is the center stone in a hearth representing family, fireside and home. I am currently writing a fictional story about a Packhorse Librarian. A short chapter (very short) will be released each month beginning in September when the BOM is released and will continue for 12 months.

This is all so exciting! I LOVED working with the wonderful, artistic staff at Marcus Fabrics. Their guidance and help made this all possible and fulfilled my dream of having my own fabric collection.

Please contact your local quilt shop if you are interested in the BOM, or the fabric collection. The sales representatives will be contacting shops in your area soon.

You can see other new releases on their website located here: https://www.marcusfabrics.com/

I got off the mountain yesterday to escape the blizzard bearing down on the Sierras. The graphic published by NOAA says it all.  The cabin is at the 4000' level and 60 to 80" of snow is now beginning to come down on top of the two and a half feet of snow we already have!  I hope my poor little cabin doesn't buckle under the weight.  I was afraid if I didn't get the h-e- double toothpicks out of Dodge that I'd miss my flight to Chicago Wednesday morning.  The blizzard is accompanied by high winds which means trees and limbs will be toppling and blocking roads.  This isn't our first rodeo and part of me is glad to be gone, and the other part is worried about the cabin defending itself against the onslaught of wind and snow.

I'm at our son's house in the SF Bay Area and I'm watching the rain and looking at giant puddles forming in the backyard.  When I left the cabin, I had the feeling I'd forgotten something......and I did. I should have listened to the little voice nagging me in the back of my brain.  It was a very expensive shopping trip this morning replacing everything that is sitting in a carryon bag at the cabin.  Luckily, I have all of my teaching materials and quilt!  There's absolutely no way I could have gotten back to the cabin.  I just hope I have everything I need.  Undergarments are highly overrated!

Soon,

Lynn

  1. Congratulations on your latest venture, beautiful fabrics and a gorgeous quilt! My advice, do what we did years ago when we traveled to France, buy cheap undies. After wearing them , you can just throw them away. Biggest plus was less laundry to do when we got home!!
    Safe travels. Hugs Cindy Croll

  2. Your design is stunning! I love all the fabric colors and detail. It is so exciting to see the quilt! Wow! Having the quilt be a tribute makes it extra special. Congratulations! Have a fun trip!

  3. Your snowstorm is simply ridiculous! We drove to and from Costco today in a snow squall that was not on our weather app. So much for trusting that app! I have had a very positive attitude about all the snow we have received here in Idaho this winter since we so want and need it all to get out of our drought. I have prayed for this white stuff. I must admit I am a bit overwhelmed at this point. I am wondering if you feel the same!

Your new fabric line and quilt are simply the best ever! I need more fabric like a need more snow. However what I need and what I want are two different things. I read a powerful historical novel about these amazing horseback librarians and a few years ago and was just so struck about how great each of these women were. What great choices you have made!

    1. You are so sweet, Donna. I was very inspired by the Packhorse Librarians when I read all of the books I could find about them. Now about the snow.....yes, we need it. My daffodils are never going to see the light of day at this rate.

  4. Lynn...I think your quilt is wonderful and your pattern will be a fun one to work on. I'm eager to read your BOM novella too!! The upcoming blizzard will be a tough one; hard to imagine. I'm so sorry that you left your carry on at the cabin but happy you were able to find replacements!!!

  6. Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! Your fabrics are so beautiful too and I can't wait to read your stories each month! How fun to design fabric, a quilt and write a story! I am so jealous and impressed. I hope you can actually make it to your destination since there seems to be a common problem with flight cancellations these days. Your ladies will be so glad to see you. Have a wonderful time. Hopefully you will be able to find your cabin when you return. :-) K- lkw2x6-apq@yahoo.com

  7. Congratulations on another fantastic milestone Lynn - your pattern and fabrics are spectacular. You mentioned how creative the staff at Marcus is, but you obviously had a vision that helped make their work on this effort that much more enjoyable, I'm sure. Good luck navigating the weather and I will keep my fingers crossed that all stays safe at the cabin. We live on the other end of the continent and are accustomed to a fair bit of snow, but every night when we look at the news/weather from your part of the world I think of you and pray that everyone stays safe. Have a wonderful time at the retreat!
